Troy Aikman had these comments about Summerall:
Summerall has made a difference in the lives of many. Although recognized as the preeminent play-by-play broadcaster, his most notable contribution was how he impacted the lives of his friends. Pat was my friend and he will be missed.

Yes, the best. Whippersnappers only got to see him after the long decline. Pity them.

Actually ran into him once when he was coming out of a hospital in Southlake, he was a big guy, much taller than I thought from seeing him on TV.

Even during his “decline” he still was better than most.

Pat Summerall painted pictures with just a few words: “Simms. Bavaro. Touchdown.”

He almost hit me once! I was stopped on NW Hwy in the left turn lane (was pulled out too far) and he was turning left from Mockingbird Ln.

I almost forgot he first got started with Brookshier....who ended his career with that infamous comment about Louisville’s basketball team and “total team IQ...”
I bet those two were a hoot after a few belts.....

In a way to me, he was the voice of the Cowboys, during their heyday in the 90s. He and Aikman were very close.

I was just thinking about him yesterday. He used to broadcast the Masters and other golf tournaments, too.

I ran into the Ticket's Norm Hitzges recently and he's also taller than expected, around 6'2". Speaking of that, here's Norm and Pat from the December 2010 Normathon.

Summerall and Brookshier were the best that ever were.
No other sportscasters (football) can hold a candle to them.
