There are a lot of lousy musicians that are a lot more popular than they deserve, but in you opinion, who are the three most over rated musicians (or groups) of all time?
True on Gaga, total Madonna rip-off.
I’m 35 and love classic rock. Bob Seger is someone my mom would like. In fact, she asked me to download Old Time Rock n Roll for her Jazzercise class. Nuff said.
Win
true that. LOL.
I remember the first Elvis song I heard was Suspicious Minds, and I don’t care what anyone thinks about Elvis, that was a fantastic song...I had no idea then what Elvis had done before.
Not so much the band, as the lead singer. He went on to do the gayest sounding song ever, Desert Moon.
Right there with Dennis Deyoung was/is Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon. If you ever heard him talk, you'd swear he was a sword swallower.
Jonathan Kay became the prototype of the metal front man. Genius business man as well, while the rest of the band was getting all drugged up, Kay was securing the rights to the songs and the band name, and made a fortune off of it.
And then of course we found out that Styx’s bass player was gay, I was shocked Dennis wasn’t as well.
If there is a free market anywhere in America it’s in music. People listen to what they want to listen to.
From that perspective there are NO overrated musicians.
ZZ Top
Van Halen
Prince
All female vocalists who flash a lot of skin and sing with whiney, little girl voices
The worst musical performance I ever saw was Florence Henderson singing “Bad Bad LeRoy Brown”.
The underrated bands and musicians thread (I recall there was one once) will list musicians and bands that have sold gazillions of discs, and still “not everybody likes them as much as I do!”
Now when I think of REO Speedwagon, I think of Billy Madison, when he makes his “triumphant” return to high school wearing an REO Speedwagon T-Shirt, and all the students looking at him like he came from another planet.
Okay, got ten yrs on you but still music is outside of time... I still listen to music composed long before my birth. But have to agree w you on the “old time rock and roll” Seger hit. Hate it. Anthems annoy me, and that smacks of it.
Michael Murphy.....that song “Wildfire” drives me batty and I HAVE to turn it off when played. Dumbest song ever next to “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”.
I second Dave Matthews Band. I was trying to forget them.
