Similar can be said about stand-up comedians. Most couldn’t even tell a joke without sexual inuendos and F-bombs as every 3rd word.

I was born with a mild knee maladjustment and by the time my mother was told what it was, I was 8 or 9 years old.
She asked the doctor what could be done to help strengthen my legs, and she mentioned my sister was in dancing school.
GREAT .. said the doctor.
So from around 1956 or 7 until maybe 60 or 61, I was in dancing school
I loved the old hoofers and Rita was one of those ... um ... Annette Funicello figures to me.
Annette was more my age but ... can you see Rita move ??
sigghhhh

Agreed! (and Madonna has some talent, but who can stand to watch for it....what with all her obscene lewd krap?)
I am no prude. I can take, even occasionally appreciate the value of, some “realism” in movies or songs or other entertainment. I just don’t want constant filth ...
there is a big difference between some “realism” to accurately convey a story or to make a point ....and constant degrading filth for filth’s own sake.
There is a big difference. One is art. The other is just disgusting.

Fred was always the ultimate professional! And ultimate gentleman!
I look forward to a return to such a time.
That is progress!

I was talking to a friend at our Senior Center a couple of weeks ago. He is 91 and everyone likes him because he comes in and plays the piano. He played for many years in piano bars - if anyone remembers what they are.
He said his father was a band leader and directed music for movies. He said they were at dinner one night and Ricky Ricardo’s band was playing. It was the night Ricky introduced Lucile Ball as he bride to be. He told me he would never forget it because Lucy had on a white outfit set off by her flaming red hair. He said the Lucy show did not do her justice. “That was one beautiful woman.”

The beats at their core (at least folks like Kerouac) didn’t want to overthrow the culture or society.
You’ll find comments here and there by members of different figures in the high and low leisure classes who agreed that someone had to collect the tickets on the subway and someone had to keep the power plants running and someone had to...
Eternal adolescence now.

But William S Burroughs, though a talented writer, did not make a positive contribution to that period.
His homosexuality launched a thousand randy ships.
That said, I appreciate his literary talent...but damn his influence on young men who followed his lead.

Luved it! None of today's "stars" can touch the talent of the REAL movirstars who went before them.
Sad.
