I always liked those old song-and-dance movies. Old movies used to be the Saturday and Sunday afternoon venues on the 3 broadcast networks.

One of my favorites is Gene Kelly’s Singing in the Rain:

And Kurt Browning did an excellent tribute ice skating routine to Singing in the Rain:

Rita Hayworth, Susan Hayward and Howard Hughes would have hate disco!

Would it be tasteless if I posted the “Clockwork Orange” version? ;)

Probably a serious amount of our moral slippage has to do with demographics. Perhaps not so much with demographics though as with White Guilt about this demographic shift.

Let me quickly add that many folk of other demographics also hold to God's norms for society...but these norms were introduced in the U.S. and not by tribes of Africa.

On top of all that, Satan is hard at work making the worst he can of all our circumstances. And he is doing quite well in America.

Obama's America is an Abomination to God. God has said so in very clear terms. And Obama has declared his opposition to God in no uncertain terms.

I went to the supermarket recently and saw a magazine/anniversary cover featuring the face of Audrey Hepburn. It was a beautiful image. Then I looked at the other covers and saw today's trashy broads considered attractive. We are not “progressing.”

No, but it would be tasteless if you posted Heather Nova’s version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KP_cJsR9rHo

Ginger Rogers was very good. But Rita Hayworth was the best. She was truly poetry in motion.

In all fairness, she was the cream of the crop, driven to dance from a very early age, and one of the few who survived the ruthless and hated studio boss Harry Cohn. Fred Astaire was also very tough to work with as he was a perfectionist, calling for endless takes in dance routines until they were perfect. But that’s what made their movies so amazing.

Fate turned on her when she developed early onset Alzheimer’s in the early 1960s, which she suffered with for 20 years before it killed her at age 68.

Are you hijacking your own thread? That’s something new!

Seriously, what is happening is what our parents (or grandparents) warned us about at rock’n’roll’s birth, let’s not deny it. The popular culture has gone into the gutter. Demographic change? Perhaps. But it is also the effect of increased wealth, where culture peddling businesses are now, since the 1950s, able to sell to the undemanding, uneducated, undiscerning consumers, the teenagers, and make it the major driver of the economy.

Heheh...perhaps.

But here (at FR and thereabouts) are many conservatives with their senses of humor intact...who realize that those rock'n'roll years did nothing meaningful for us.

We came back to our core (and still love rock'n'roll...but in an aesthetic way...not basely).

Nice, when women had talent and didn’t have to show their whence they came at every other shot.
I am sick of today’s talent (if you call it that), all they are are productions, without fireworks and crotches shots they are nothing.

Those parents and their parents grew up with The Charleston, the Roaring 20's, Zoot-suiters, etc.

Also remember that networks prohibited Elvis from being shown except from the waist up in some of Elvis's early TV appearances. Lucy and Ricky, Rob and Laura, etc., were not allowed to be shown in the same bed -- their bedrooms had twin beds.

Nice, but just imagine how Madonna and LadyGaga would do this song? (/s)

I can't stand to even think about much less imagine these two most vulgar beotches in show business.

I love this old youtube video because it reminds me of the America that has disappeared...having been eroded by baseness and pornography and gay marriage and Obama.

Took the words right out of my mouth...what a great video...thanks for posting so we can all enjoy it!
