Similar can be said about stand-up comedians. Most couldn’t even tell a joke without sexual inuendos and F-bombs as every 3rd word.

I am no prude. I can take, even occasionally appreciate the value of, some “realism” in movies or songs or other entertainment. I just don’t want constant filth ...
there is a big difference between some “realism” to accurately convey a story or to make a point ....and constant degrading filth for filth’s own sake.
There is a big difference. One is art. The other is just disgusting.
I look forward to a return to such a time.

I was talking to a friend at our Senior Center a couple of weeks ago. He is 91 and everyone likes him because he comes in and plays the piano. He played for many years in piano bars - if anyone remembers what they are.
He said his father was a band leader and directed music for movies. He said they were at dinner one night and Ricky Ricardo’s band was playing. It was the night Ricky introduced Lucile Ball as he bride to be. He told me he would never forget it because Lucy had on a white outfit set off by her flaming red hair. He said the Lucy show did not do her justice. “That was one beautiful woman.”
The beats at their core (at least folks like Kerouac) didn’t want to overthrow the culture or society.
You’ll find comments here and there by members of different figures in the high and low leisure classes who agreed that someone had to collect the tickets on the subway and someone had to keep the power plants running and someone had to...
