I was a 'dinner whore': Confessions of a fashionista

New York fashion blogger Brittny Pierre is not ashamed to admit that she had gone out on dozens of dates with men for the sole purpose of getting a square meal.

Pierre, who has been writing for Village Voice Media and a hip hop website, made the confession in a piece written in the first person that appeared on the feminist blog XOJane this week.

The woman detailed how she would meet her 'victims' on the dating site OKCupid and through Craigslist, and would go out for dinner three times a week with different men, allowing them to foot the bill every time.

What she is doing is wrong. Her friends validating her behavior is even worse (Imo). She's not respectful to herself (and also telling the public of this) and it's not like some guys are not like; picking these kind of women (and younger girls) up for one thing. There are some guys out there as well who are not that great either. I am thankful I had a good upbringing and want to be with my husband and respect my vows to him; our life and to make him happy (not just me being happy, you know) Most good women (good as in understanding their role to marriage and dividing up priorities vs. this, it's me me me) want happiness or a truthful relationship. That is the secret or foundation to making it work and being happy.

Skip the dinner and go right to the drinks. Haven’t you seen this beer goggles commercial?

LOL!

So, let me do the math. Two meals at (let's be generous) @ $50 bucks each. That means the “lucky girl” has to put out for $100. Gee what a deal for her!!! NOT.

If all she was after was a free meal, I would suggest that that makes HER the prostitute, not me. And when I said that I was expecting more than a good night kiss, why do you automatically think I mean I was expecting anything SEXUAL? Maybe what I was talking about was a commitment, or maybe even an offer to share the expenses. You know, something equitable ...

Good grief is right!

-->>These threads tend to bring out some interesting attitudes that some men have toward women.

Oh, yes. And the ones who post the problems of the world are due to all women. Yes, there's bad women not all of us. Bad men, too, not all of them either.

I didn't say anything about "putting out." You did.

By the way, $100 is probably way too much to pay for the sexual services of the average lunch whore.

And let's keep in mind that the one being used here is ME, not her. My expectations are that anyone who agrees to date me is doing so for some reason other than simply a free meal. Unless we make it clear from the outset that the meal is the price I pay for the (dubious) benefit of her company. In which case, I would find other company.

I would rather stay at home and make macaroni and cheese for myself than to date someone just to get a free dinner. But then, I’m a guy.

Same here and I'm a gal. A cheap 50 cent box of mac and cheese is much better company than most dates and I wouldn't be lamenting those wasted hours.

True Confession: I used to be a dinner whoremonger. I would go out with a dinner whore so I could eat at a great restaurant and have pleasant conversation with an attractive woman. Whew...I feel better getting that off my chest.

Back in the stone age when I was young, single, and exceedingly handsome I might add, we used to call this a 'date.'

Sometimes it turned into many consecutive 'dates' if we were interested in each other. We used to call that 'steady dating.'

It would be dinner, a movie, then maybe a little drinking and dancing on the weekends, or on weeknights, maybe just a quick stop on the way home for some pie and coffee. And fool that I was, I paid for everything.

Eventually the odds caught up with me however. One of those 'steady dates' turned into my wife, and then things got really expensive. I was feeding her three times a day instead of just once or twice a week. Then those kids came along and I had to feed them three times every day too.

;~))

I tell my Son that he shouldn’t date any girl that he wouldn’t consider marrying. Spending $50 to find out that a potential mate is wrong for you, is a cheap lesson learned. Also, this author is receiving dinner date proposals three to five times a week? Nope. Word gets around, even in the big cities. She’s not telling the truth. We have been taught that dating and sex are casual. Why? Didn’t the goal used to be to find the one to marry and spend your life with and have children with? What is the goal now? Using each other?

I think I'd be afraid to meet the women who would want to take me out for a free dinner.

Maybe you should have just offered to pay them cash, instead of food, if all you were looking for was a very cheap lay.

You say that like it's a BAD thing.
