And in four days, Leonard Nimoy will ALSO be 82.
And guess who’s birthday is RIGHT in the middle of those two icons?
Me!
(But, I’ll only be 44)
Kinda cool that I share a birthday with Steve McQueen, too.

When it comes to singing, hes like almost A-OK, but acting? The worst. Actor. Evah! One of the funniest online DVD reviews I can recall was of Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan, in which the reviewer summed it up as "the greatest-ever cinematic clash of ham vs. ham". :-)
But seriously, Shatner is (or at least was in his younger days) an old-school Shakespearean stage actor. If Bill had been about 6'6" tall and had a smooth baritone speaking voice, his Alexander the Great TV pilot would've probably been a success and he would've never ended up on the bridge of the Enterprise. He *can* act, if given good direction.
In fact, there's a lot of similarity between Shatner and the late Charlton Heston in terms of acting style. Heston simply had more stage presence and consequently was able to carry off the epic movie roles. Note that both of them did a lot of "B" movies; Bill was not able to move beyond that aside from the Star Trek films.

When I see the commercial with Shatner and the Blonde “Big Bang Theory” chick wherein he plays her FATHER I laugh. Turns out he’s even older than I thought. Happy birthday, Bill.
