The civil rights group ColorOfChange would like to see Cops put behind bars.
ColorOfChange has asked Fox not to renew its unscripted law-enforcement show and is calling upon advertisers to withdraw support, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. On Wednesday morning, the group is sending supporters an email in which it asks them to sign a petition to that effect.
"Although marketed as unbiased, Cops actually offers a highly filtered version of crime and the criminal justice system a 'reality' where the police are always competent, crime-solving heroes and where the bad boys always get caught," the email reads in part. It goes on to charge Cops and shows like it with over-representing whites as police officers and under-representing minorities as authority figures. According to ColorOfChange, Cops glosses over issues such as police misconduct and broadcasts "dehumanizing portrayals" of suspects.
In its criticism of Cops, ColorOfChange points to research it says media representations such as those on Cops can lead to stigmatization of black men. "Against the real-world backdrop of an American culture that views young men like Trayvon Martin and Jordan Russell Davis with suspicion," the email continues, "the stakes couldn't be higher."

color of change HUH, don;t they really mean that they hate seeing blacks commit crime and getting arested?
Also this is not the first time this show has been under attack, years ago black groups protested because most of the perps were blacks and the show cops had to edit much of what they got so it shows whites much more
As chairman of the International Association of Men Without Shirts, I have to concur. Not everyone who lounges around the house shirtless is a hardened criminal. I demand restitution.
/sarc off
Reminds me onf one of my favorite CSPAN moments, watching Maxine Waters speaking to an orgnaization called “Mothers Against Mandatory Minimums”, a group of nearly all black women who are opposed to laws which set mandatory minimum prison sentences. It doesn’t get better than that. Pure gold.
Hey, we already have ALL commercials involving home security showing ONLY “white” perps . . . so, maybe COPS should pull a wagon with white guys behind their patrol cars, and when they find the real criminals, stop the cameras, and switch the black perp with the white stand-in.
Isn’t this the Van Jones group Glenn Beck exposed on his FoxNews TV show???
No, that moniker is reserved for those wearing "Wife Beater" T-shirts
Unscripted, yet doesn’t this sound familiar?
“Sir, the reason I pulled you over is because you didn’t come to a stop at the stop sign. May I please have your license and registration.”
“Sir, after running your license, you have a warrant for your arrest.”
Sir, upon inspection of your car, I found 20 kilos of cocaine in your back seat.”
“Isnt this the Van Jones group Glenn Beck exposed on his FoxNews TV show???”
That’s my understanding. Accordingly nothing they say or do has any value. Fox should tell them to go pound salt.
Did the LSM ever show a recent photo of Trayvon?
Easy answer.
Tell ‘em to shove it up their smelly Obamas.
I prefer cable show ‘The First 48’ where the accused walks a free man into the Police Dept. to talk to homicide detectives after being read his rights and never leaves, ever!
Van Jones = Lying, racist, communist SOB
FOX’s reply:
No.
I can certainly understand why. The hoodie brigade can’t operate in the sunshine.
Those who claim to love freedom of speech, seems to want it only for themselves. The “I’m sick and tired” doesn’t include the great unwashed.
I know right? I'm very leery of any 30 something white guy that's in my neighborhood because I'm pretty sure as soon as my back is turned he's going to kick in the door. The more clean cut he is the more suspicious I am. I would feel safer if only there were more pierced, tatooed, pot smoking white and black men.
Tell you what, I’ll make a deal with them....you get blacks to stop committing crimes, and we’ll stop showing them on TV, deal?
