I visited 2 stores looking for 22LR ammo. None available. Both store reps say government is buying ammo. Is this so? Why? Are manufacturers unable to meet demand? I try to keep informed but I would not think that one cannot purchase a couple of boxes of 22 shells. Appreciate any information.
The gov. is buying it up because they don’t want us to have any more than we already have.
The government is buying it up because they KNOW there is coming a date certain beyond which they will be unable to be resupplied for a few years. Their collapse agenda is working ... they will need lots of bullets to protect the’island fortresses’ of the oligarchs who have arranged the collapse.
Look on-line. There is still .22 LR available, but you must look for it.
yup they are buying it with ur grandkids’ money so we can’t buy it first.
guns don-t work without ammo.
May be we should start locating this ammo dumps for further use. Thirty Million to one gota like those odds
Why are they selling it to the government?
The government is not buying up .22lr and .22 magnum ammo, but the buys they are making require the brass for production which would have been designated for .22 ammo which the manufacturers have stopped using the brass for.
I know that. My grandchildren are 3 years and 7 months. It’s sick.
It be so.
The Goobermint is overburdening the supply lines.
They could fight Iraq for 20 years at their order rate.
I imagine 22 is in short supply because the other lines are running 24/7 filling goobermint contracts.
I've been wondering about this for a while now. Is this speculation, or have you seen stories about this? I've seen nothing to account for the .22LR shortage except ammo buyers buying it by the pallet load.
But your point about a brass shortage is new to me. Can you cite a source for this?
Call Walmart. They get it in from time to time. our closest one will tell us exactly what is coming in when. The only problem is they never know how long it will take for the ammo to get off the truck to their dept. Can take minutes - can take hours.
And you must be there when the ammo hits the shelves. It will be gone in minutes.
I haven’t found .45 ACP anywhere for a long time - found 100 rnds.at Walmart and took it. She said the 550 rnd. boxes of .22LR were coming in at 4pm, but she didn’t have any idea when they’d get from the truck to her dept. She said $20 for the box.
http://www.gunbot.net Check every day.
For instance, if you click on .22lr and sort the listing by price per round, you’ll see CTD has .22 LR Armscor Solid Point 40 Grain 500 Round Brick Standard Velocity 1135 fps, as of 10 hours ago. Yes, it’s very expensive right now. But check tomorrow morning and the next day, etc. I’ve seen CCI Stingers for $0.14 per round, which, imo, is about the best 22 ammo you can get right now. Still outrageously expensive for .22lr, but that’s the environment we find ourselves in at the moment.
No, but think about it. A producer like CCI is connected to blazer and various caliber productions. CCI used to be readily available in 22lr and 22 magnum. Now, not a round to be found while the other calibers are being heavily manufactured to fill asap government orders. If CCI had brass a plenty they would be spitting out 22lr and 22 magnum at their usual pace which is about 500,000 to 1 million rounds per day, IIRC.
Sure there are, care to post some links? There has been no 22LR on the shelves here for weeks, when there was it didn't really get to the shelves as people were lined up to buy it.
223, 30 cal, 30-30, or 30-06 dream on.
Some 223 can be had for #1.00 a pop so load up and go practice a few hundred rounds this weekend, enjoy.

Where have you been living??
One thing that has annoyed me is a recent, and my last ever, trip to Gander Mountain. Walked in and saw 22 ammo on the shelf. Asked for 2 boxes and was told by the person behind the counter ..... That they only sold 22 ammo to people who also buy a 22 firearm from them.
Prior to this I had been mailed their sales flyers and was at the door when they opened for said sale. Walked straight to the firearms section to buy a 1600 round pack of CCI 22 ammo. They didn’t have what the sales flyer said they did yet they bait people in with such, then later tell me I have to purchase a 22 firearm before they will sell me ammo they have on the shelf...
Wasn’t like I wanted to buy all the ammo. I asked to buy 2 of the 100 round CCI boxes when they gave me the “must buy a gun” caveat .......
My last trip ever to a gander mountain .
