HOLLYWOOD, March 6, 2013, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Two musical acts have announced they will not perform at the Boy Scouts annual Jamboree – one ruling out a performance and the other saying the organization would have to change its policy on admitting homosexuals as members and scoutmasters before they would perform.
"As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer," Carly Rae Jepsen announced on Twitter yesterday. She pledged to "stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe."
Her announcement came one day after the band Train said it would only perform at the annual event this July 15-24 if the Scouts changed their policy.
“We have always seen the BSA as a great and noble organization,” they wrote on their blog. “We look forward to participating in the Jamboree this summer, as long as they make the right decision before then."
The outdoor children's organization had been scheduled to revisit its policy on admitting homosexuals last month, but the BSA board delayed making a decision until May.
Jepsen became known for her infectious and ubiquitous pop smash, “Call Me, Maybe,” which reached number one on music charts around the world. The former Canadian Idol contestant has had a spotty chart history since then, none attaining the success of her breakthrough debut. The members of Train have been more reliable hit-makers.
This year's Jamboree will be the first to be held in a new, permanent site in West Virginia. The event regularly draws 50,000 participants from around the country.
With a new site replete with rafting, swimming, biking, climbing, shooting, archery, and more, the Boy Scouts will not lack for entertainment whatever the group's final decision.
Why do the Boy Scouts have to bring in these spare acts in the first place?
The Troops themselves should be providing the entertainment. Who is the numbnut in the BSA leadership that thinks having outsiders performing concerts is a good idea at Jamboree?
Do not parents of Boy Scouts have freedom of association and the freedom not to send their kids in the woods overnight with pedophiles?

Sounds like the BSA needs to do a better job vetting these performers. If they don’t share BSA values, they should not be invited to perform at BSA events.
The BSA should sue both of them for “bad faith” for signing contracts that they had no intention of fulfilling.

The Boy Scouts’ policy has been the same since Carly whats it was booked. Why didn’t she refuse then? Dumb a— liberal.

Perhaps this is just another sign that the national administration for this org is out of touch with the core values of Scouting.
Why can’t these liberal parents just start the all-gay scouts and stop trying to infiltrate the normal scouts?! And isn’t Carly Rae whazit a one hit wonder? Why was she invited???
Given the fact that the gay issue with the Boy Scouts is no secret, I wonder why these two musical acts even accepted the invitation to begin with. In my opinion it’s all a publicity act which I hope blows up in their faces. SHAME ON THEM for involving innocent children in their agenda.

Why not Taylor swift, Tim McGraw and other Country Singers. Ted Nugent and other rockers. The BSA does not have to conform to the gay and lesbian crappola. Tell them to take a hike. Does the BSA have to reimburse these tweets for anything since they cancelled.
Why do they need entertainment like that in the first place? When we have our campouts, the Troops work on Comedy sketches that they perform in front of everybody, why should it not be the same at Jamboree? Besides, most Scouts wouldn’t even know or care about these acts in the first place, they’d rather use the time in other ways.
I really have to question who in the BSA National Leadership thinks this is a good idea?
With ample help from the CBC, Globe & Mail, MuchMusic (our MTV), the NDP, and various other influential cheerleaders, the Canadian media has done a first-class job of brainwashing our country’s kids into celebrating the homosexual agenda.
