Winterbone was a wonderful movie. The book was also excellent. Her character in Hunger Games was actually quite similar. Survivalists & scrapper. She is a jewel!

Winter’s Bone. We’ve been watching that on the Lifetime Movie Network the past week. It will probably be on again because they keep re-running movies.

I am a phlegmatic, crusty, emotionally closed old bastard. I watched it twice and it almost broke me both times.
That I could not save Ree Dolly, a fictional character yet, from the pains of her victories nearly tore my guts out. Great acting, great directing, great story telling.
I liked the hunger games for exactly that reason- my daugfhters may not have noticed, but I made sure we discussed how the big government controlled their lives and sent these kids to their deaths
Do not let you kids see it without bringing up that parallel - it is worth it
