OK let me offer an idea, contrary to what seems now to be the thought of everyone in both parties.
Americans need to make things.
You could eliminate ALL govt regulations and taxes and the off shoring religion would continue. The MBA factories are alters of the church of "free trade". Besides large global corporations love regulations, they can afford the staff and lawyers for compliance, the little guy not so much. So FedGov is like a partner to these gloBULL corps.
Nah; I’m in favor of replacing all income taxes with consumption taxes.
They help capital formation, encourage retirement savings, and make the cost of government extremely explicit.
Right now, the Sales Tax for government in this country would be over 35%.
Show that to the average low-information 0bama voter. They might even understand.
We DON'T have high union costs in the USA. 96% of the private sector is NON-UNION. So get a new straw man, that one died a long time ago.

The GOP doesn't give a crap about increasing American jobs. They're just interested in bomb, bomb, bombing the world.
That won't happen? Why? Because punitive tariffs on our exports ARE ALREADY IN PLACE, everywhere.
C'mon man we did that under Dubya but the jobs went to China and we went into recession. Maybe you think Coolie wages and polluted everything is for best future for Americans but they have a vote.
I think you have a point.
Can I ask anyone please? Is the Tea Party for American jobs?
Right now, neither the Dems nor GOP seem the least bit interested in American jobs.
Both are exporting and likewise unemploying Americans as rapidly as possible.
How about the Tea Party?
What please is the Tea Party position on trade? Is the Tea Party for American jobs?
There aren’t only imports from China. There are imports on the shelves and clothing hangers from many countries around the world with a few having names I have never heard of before.
Do you want to stop all imports? Where would you get computer motherboards, for example, for the prices that are currently available?
The unions in this country have to be pounded down into the ground. Then and only then can we talk about taxing and/or limiting imports.
If you drastically lowered taxes and regulations on US businesses, then your “trade problem” would be resolved. If not, then your “solution” is nothing more than a tax increase on your fellow citizen.
Your solution is no different economically than Obama’s proposed minimum wage increase. It will drive up the cost of goods, but make some people think they are making more...
A tariff doesn’t stop imports and private sector union participation(6%) is at a 96 year low.
That is, of course, regarding a time when there were no income or other taxes; the fedgov was exclusively funded through such measures.
That idea was once proposed by a guy named Ross Perot, and you can see what has happened since then as a result.
“You could eliminate ALL govt regulations and taxes and the off shoring religion would continue.”
This statement proves that you are all rhetoric and no logic.
Let’s build a fence around our country to keep our manufacturers in, that way we can protect all of our jobs! We all really just want Trabants anyway! /s
“Besides large global corporations love regulations, they can afford the staff and lawyers for compliance, the little guy not so much.”
We can agree on this one, but again the MAGICAL solution is a drastic reduction in regulations and corporate taxes.
I’m not sure this is all Perot’s fault, actually.
Wasn’t he the one predicting this very problem, if we ignored his warnings?
I think Perot was one of the good guys.
(or was that your point, and I just misunderstood?)
His prediction [snort] came before an economic boom that lasted more than a decade, if I recall.
Explain why manufacturers prefer to build their plants in Right-to-Work States.
You recall the Clinton boom when the computers were made here and before the Bush job sucking sound was felt here.
I guess you are unaware that it was protectionists, like yourself, who were responsible for enacting the 16th Amendment.
The government managed trade you are so enthusiastic for, with all the instituted restrictions & barriers and economic liberties lost, is the very socialism you accuse others of wanting. Actually, what you desire is worse than socialism. You're here advocating for central planning and elitist and dictatorial command style economics that has absolutely nothing to do with economic liberty. Yup, nothing like having a bunch of brain dead Bolshevik politicians choosing winners and losers. Why not just admit that you favor central planning and hold nothing but contempt for the the economic choices of other people when they refuse to do as you want them to do. In the protectionist fever swamp in which statists like you exist, freedom is now equal to slavery, and more government control provides us with greater liberty. What a pile of crap.
People who think in this twisted manner believe we must limit economic freedom in order to preserve it. The fact that your retarded logic can find support here is a sad commentary on the state of our union. It is you who is bowing down in that graphic you posted earlier - bowing to the collectivist central planners who know what's best for you and your family. To me, free trade is fundamental to capitalism. It is the voluntary exchange of goods and services between two or more parties so that each party walks away from the exchange in better shape than they were before the transaction. Why anyone would have a problem with that is a mystery, but here you are.....
