Police seeking Dorner opened fire in a second case of mistaken identity
Los Angeles Times ^ | February 9, 2013 | Robert Faturechi and Matt Stevens

David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work Thursday morning when police flagged him down. They asked who he was and where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue's attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser slammed into his pickup and officers opened fire; none of the bullets struck Perdue.

"I don't want to use the word buffoonery but it really is unbridled police lawlessness," said Robert Sheahen, Perdue's attorney. "These people need training and they need restraint."

Perdue's attorneys said their client was shot at without warning.

"As you know, officers of the Torrance Police Department attempted to kill Mr. Perdue" Thursday, the attorneys wrote in a letter to the agency's chief.

Dorner might be loony tunes but everything he is saying about the Cali cops seems to be coming true.

From state police, we move to Police State.

Godallmightydamn!
The Torrance POlice chief offers to pay Mr Perdue’s medical bill and get him a rental car until his truck is repaired?
The Los Angeles POlice chief offer the woman they shot up a new truck?
A “civil rights lawyer” (proper spelling ambulance chaser) says, Well the POlice are not used to being hunted and are on edge?

The POlice dept really has turned into jackbooted thugs.
Jackbooted thugs with machine guns. Godallmightydamn!!!!

The police officers, their supervisors, and their dept. chiefs should be charge with attempted murder.

In the “Blue Pickup Truck” case, the police were obviously trying to kill BOTH people in the truck - see the rear window.

Except that, there is some fortune on the side of the people whom the police have tried to kill, there is otherwise no “mistake” nor “accident” here - it is attempted murder; these police doing these shootings are NO DIFFERENT than the alleged perp (Dorner) whom they - we are told - are trying to pursue, er kill.

The governor and people of California just sit there, hoping, “Gee, I hope ‘they’ get this out of their system.”

You’re watching *THE NATURE OF GOVERNMENT* and learning WHY IT MUST BE LIMITED.

I realize I am just a dumb ignorant citizen sheep...but the guy they pulled over is a skinny white guy....not a six foot large black man....

How can the Torrance police think this guy was involved with this dorner leftwing wackco... After they pulled him over and questioned him...?

Looks like the gungrabbers need to modify their mantra:

"The only people who should have guns are the police and the military.

If this guy stays hidden for the next thirty days....I’d take a humble guess of a dozen innocent people either wounded or dead from the LA cops. The city will be facing court action that amounts to half-a-billion....if you ask me. If he stays out for a hundred days....it might even get close to a billion that they have to pay out and settle on. This guy could bankrupt the city of LA....eventually.

This is just one guy.

Imagine going after 10 million soon to be outlaw gun owners.

Yes, we should all remember that only these trained professionals are capable of handling the fine art of protecting us. Does anyone think the general population would be treated the same for opening fire on a few innocent citizens? It just backs up my knowledge that the average police officer is inferior in ability to handle a firearm in a stressful situation than the average CCW holder.

The LAPD has been this way for a long time. Go back to the TV series of the 60s and 70s and their scenes of the academy with recruits singing “We are the PD, mighty mighty PD...” There’s long been this military motif in LA. I used to think it was a coping mechanism for having to police a city of 4 million with 8,000 cops. But I’ve seen similar things in NYC since 9/11. We used to depend on our excellent multi tasked ESU for SWAT stuff. Now we have these Atlas teams that have as much firepower and more physical protection than an infantry squad.

I wonder what the 'cop on innocent citizen' homicide rate is vs the 'assault rifle owner on fellow citizen' homicide rate?

I have a gut hunch that police murder more innocents than citizens do with scary looking semi-auto rifles.

In the distant past, I managed a gun store and had contact with hundreds of police, state highway patrol, etc. The vast majority were literally about the nationwide average with a handgun. In other words, I was a competitive shooter and there were none that were even close to that level. I often helped correct some of their shooting issues, and some became decent shooters if they desired to on their own.

Yeah they’re edgy and jumpy. They should have never done the affirmative action hire. Then they wouldn’t be having this problem.

Big bad cops get awfully jumpy when they get targeted by criminals. And its not just a recent thing. About 40 years ago in NYC there was militant group that targeted cops and had shot some of them. I was working at a gas station filling some guy’s car and a car down the block backfired. The guy hit the dirt instantly as I stood there looking down at him. Turns out he was an off duty cop.
