Actually this is no worse than any of the Die Hard movies.
Especially when there are at least 6 airports that could have taken the Diverted Dulles traffic in the second one.

Bullitt for sure, though it did lack a roller blade sequence. :-P

When I read the headline, my first thought was of OJ driving on the freeway with police following :)

Ha ha ha - The cars just jump up in the air and THEN explode, for no reason at all.

Actually, Ronin had three car chases, all of which were outstanding. I consider them to be the last great car chases in film, as pretty much everything since has been dependent on CGI, or at least much more finely controlled choreography. Kudos, though, to Denzel Washington’s Deja Vu, with the most unique car chase I’ve ever seen.

Yeah, it’s great. Supposedly they didn’t have permits for some of it and ran on open streets. When he hits the pole I don’t think it was planned. All the cop cars are what makes it, if you have a giant junk yard that becomes possible.
Vanishing Point is good too.

Kind of like “most epic guitar solo ever”? ;-)
I wish I could see the video. I get the feeling it’s a sarcastic title.

Damned straight! All else pales in comparison. No CGI there!

I always thought an underrated car chase scene was Connery in Diamonds are Forever in downtown Las Vegas.

Not once you see this video. Your life will be changed. You’ll never watch any movie the same way again.

I saw something a lot like this in Hartford about two weeks ago. Really, no lie. Sorta. Maybe. Kinda.

If it’s not the French Connection, the title ain’t true.

I'm willing to include in this discussion any car chase that doesn't include the cliche'd "running into a stack of boxes or garbage cans" scene. Gene Hackman is a hack ... at least as far as driving a car goes.

I like this Elwood Blues line from the sequel, “Blues Brothers 2000”:
“You can’t outrun a Motorola.”

Vanishing Point was great, one of my favorite car movies of all time. So was the original Italian Job. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry either, though the best stunt in that was probably the helicopter doing a right-angle turn at practically no altitude.
