I actually read a book when I was single: How to Marry the Man of Your Choice. It was written by a Cuban-American woman who was very politically incorrect. She stressed looking as presentable as you can wherever you happen to be, and being kind to every member of the opposite sex that you meet, whether you are interested in them or not. You cant wait for somebody to knock on your door. You have to up the sheer number of people you come in contact with, especially if you have religious views that will rule out a lot of people. Mostly, though, the wake-up call that people need is that they need to reduce their list of requirements and practice being genuinely interested in real men, not some fantasy. A lot of the problem is due to unrealistic expectations and standards. It doesn't matter what kind of person you are interested in. What matters is what people are interested in YOU.
Open yourself to being approached by anybody, make yourself presentable, improve yourself as much as you can, show interest in anybody who seems to be a good and decent person, and then make your choice from the ones who display interest in you.

You are sooooooooooooooo right on about the term “Asian”.
Turkey is in Asia, so is Pakistan, Iraq, and all of south Asia. I am guessing the Oriental people think it is degrading to refer to them as Orientals.

Hard to find? Great! It’s not me. Now I have an excuse for my “failure” for being single. Honest, I’ve been looking and most are more damaged than I am. Not good...

Picture? You ever admire a book simply because the cover was very attractive, but inside was garbage?
First off, if I'm clicking on a guy's profile, he's already said something that caught my interest.
Secondly, the photo a guy chooses to represent himself can tell you more than just what he looks like.
Is he chugging beer with a scantily-clad woman on each arm?
Laughing while his friends make obscene gestures at the camera?
How well does he take care of himself?
Is he clean or slovenly?
Is he wearing his pants around his knees with his shoes untied?
Does he carry himself with dignity?
Is he too polished or pasty (indicating he'd most likely have no interest in my homesteading life)?
Does he look close to my age range?
Is he covered in piercings?
Are there kids involved?
To be honest, window-shopping is about as far as I usually get. Like several guys on this thread, I've gotten so turned-off by the number of liberals and users around that I pretty much gave up. I still like to look, though.

DON’T GIVE UP!!!
See my profile: “In late breaking news(Jan 7, 2005), I have broken my twenty two years of solitude since the collapse of my first marriage and have taken a wife. The love of my life is a brilliant, beautiful, erudite mother of three. I thank God daily that through his grace I have been brought back to faith in him and that He has seen fit to allow me a glimpse of heaven in the eyes of my soulmate. Update: Eight years after meeting my wife and seven years after marrying her, I love her more each day.”

I’ve lived in Alaska most of my life. Came up the first time as an infant, for about 5 years during WW II. Came back in 1964 with my young family, stayed until 1988. Went to MN w/hubby in 1992, and when he died, I moved back up here.

There’s at least a few couples out there who did just that, connected with someone on FR and married. I did! We marvel all the time at how blessed we are to have found each other.
People have to think outside the box if they want to find the right match.

"You might like these two. Both stong in their faith, one of them redhaired such as yourself, the other almost. Practical sorts, honest, patient, positive, and with good senses of humor. Myself, I'm as a slighty younger brother to both of them, and not always so positive as they usually are.Sweet! That "red" in "redhead" has been replaced by an awful lot of white these days. Still a pretty "young" old lady, if I do say so myself. LOL!

I've been in the AK only a few times. Twice bringing a seiner up from Seattle for salmon season in Southeast, then flying into Anchorage on the way to Dutch Harbor.
And boy did my arms get tired.

That’s a sad dissertation...you have my sympathy.
I am NOT the woman you may be looking for but there are good women here and “out there”.
Women who love good men, want a serious relationship, are debt free and financially responsible, go to work, own a home and really, really want a good conservative(!)man to enjoy their lives with. A woman who is fit, trim and very attractive as well.
That would be me-—unfortunately, you haven’t shown yourself to be a good judge of character.
