Uh, huh. Sure it is.
You CANNOT trust any form of government. PERIOD!
Your first mistake was pleading guilty....always challenge the ticket. Don’t let them use speed enforcement for revenue enhancement.
Not law enforcement, revenue enforcement.
You’re lucky you didn’t get the “asking the clerk a question fee” and the “scratching your head in a public building fee.”
Most local law enforcement agencies for years now have been charging a fee to the operators of motor vehicles involved in traffic crashes to pay for emergency response costs including ambulance and fire. Drivers usually submit the bills to their motor vehicle insurance carrier for possible full or partial payment.
As far as traffic violation fees it seems to be open season on violators for any and every fee tacked on by local municipalities especially those that are now, or about to be going bankrupt due to loss of revenue from residents leaving because of the high taxes and fees.
Just another of the king’s millions of little whims which we da sheeple take cheerfully in our stride....

I got a ticket for talking on my cell phone and went to pay it online and it indicated it wasn’t in the system. I got concerned and wrote to the DMV and got a letter back telling me the officer had 1 year to put it in the system and to check back on a regular basis. That was 360 days ago and it’s still not in the system.
After the 7th of February I will consider it null and void.
Back in 1991, when I was a foolish college student, I was arrested and convicted of driving under the influence. Officially my fine was $450, but after tacking on a “penalty assessment” and a payment to the “victims’ restitution fund” (huh? What victims? I didn’t hit anyone; I just got pulled over!) it grew to around three times that amount.
I can still remember a time in the state of California when I could just pay a small fee and do traffic school to keep an infraction off my driving record. Now (actually, for about the last twenty years or so) I have to pay the bail amount on the ticket plus an administrative fee, along with whatever the school itself costs.
Click on my user name and read my about page. That brief caused the city atty to postpone the trial and not reschedule. The statute of limitations ran out on that ticket.
Only 60 bucks for a speeding ticket?
I’m moving to Samoa!
