First it was bacon, now it's chicken wings. With less than two weeks to go before the big game, football fans may find it a bit harder to find their favorite Super Bowl snack.
The National Chicken Council released a report that said the demand for wings this year is at an all-time high due to decreased wing production caused by the high cost of corn and feed prices. Wings are currently the highest priced portion of a chicken and cost $2.11 a pound in the Northeast, up 12 percent from last year.

“... there was a time when wings were thrown away”.
Yep, I remember those days. Wings were crab bait or used to make stock. My Mom would buy a huge bag of them for next to nothing and make chicken broth.

Michelle was unhappy with this “hottie” comment to Barry from 2010. And you want to know why we are in trouble as a nation?
President Obama, making a swing through Buffalo on Thursday, got a taste of the region’s famously spicy chicken wings - and at least one very saucy female fan.
“You’re a hottie with a smokin’ little body,” Luann Haley, 45, told the President as he checked out the fare at Duff’s Famous Wings in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
Must be a big wing ding at the White House.
This week here:
whole chicken - .67
boneless skinless breast - $1.97
seasoned boneless skinless breast - $2.97
Also, several buy whatever chicken part or pre-cooked and get x,y,z free. But no mention of wings in weekly ads.
The kindergarten chicken finger club noticed that shortage as well.
The kitchen actually takes dinner orders from the inmates! The inmates get their food and eat in their cells. (good idea)
The real kicker was the choices.
regular chili
HALAL chili
vegetarian
VEGAN
don’t remember the 5th
By the end of the first show it was apparent the inmates have it much easier on the inside. And Ramsay said so too.
If I were Gordon I would have just made Vegan Chilli and when a majority of the inmates got pissed off I would say, well some of you wanted VEGAN and the Other Halal so we boiled it down to the least common denominator.
Personally i think prisons should feed the inmates Stale Bread and “Protein Gruel” which is basically like dog food cooked with water to make it’s own gravy.
If they cannot find enough stale bread, they need humid warehouses to actually MAKE stale bread to feed the inmates.
No biggie,,, food only interferes with my drinking . . .
I bought mine two weeks ago, they are in the freezer. On superbowl Sunday, they’ll be thawed, deep fried, and a ridiculous amount of wing sauce applied. Really hot and tangy sauce. Served with celery strips and ranch dressing, used for intermittent periods of tongue healing.
Those are the same prices as our local store, but they also have hind quarters for $.79 per pound. We usually get those for BBQ.
Similar prices in Omaha, NE at the right store, right time. Fareway had whole roasters for $.79/lb last week.
You do know that poultry bones splinter, and can cause severe problems in smaller dogs, right? Now, my two are chow/golden mixes each about 65 lbs. I don’t know if anything short of a whole chicken would be a problem for them gals.
Thats the inflation everyone says we don’t have....
I have never had wings at Hooters. There is a special today if you buy ten wings you get 10 free.
Just back from Giant Eagle
Boneless Breast-$3.69
Also a “Buy one, Get One Free at $3.49. But, they’re huge, and I strongly expect these are the old egg laying hens that are way past their prime. They’re also injected with 15% juice. So lousy, dry meat.
Split Friers were cheap, so I think it’s time to make a huge pot of soup!
You didn’t think I read up on this? They don’t splinter when they are raw.
