There is no reason for Sarah Palin to walk on water...
she has her own skiff.

The democrats learned their lesson from Reagan, they (with the assistance of a compliant liberal media) will quickly destroy any conservative on the national stage that appears to be intelligent and articulate well before they become a threat.

I’m skeptical. Who, exactly, betrayed Sarah Palin?

What I saw with my own eyes: she was relentlessly *attacked* (head-on) by liberals in both parties, she didn’t have the resources to mount an effective defense, so she basically gave up.

But I don’t buy the “betrayal” meme.

Unfortunately, Palin didn’t connect with the entire Republican base. Not her fault of course.

Until the Right is willing to treat the abusers mercilessly, the cycle of defeat will continue.

The RINO elites also have little interest in female/minority candidates, so that’s a problem too!

There is no good that comes for a conservative politician being introduced and ha ing your debut in a presidential campaign. We do not have even close to the liberal media power. Therefore, they get to define any new name and it will be vicious

I agree that the GOP helped eat its own, but Palin was injured primarily by the liberal media. One has to wonder if McCain hurt her by not letting her first finish her governor term. He was so desperate for a female to counter a black that he injured her by selecting her.

I didn't like Romney. A lot of folks said -- he's electable. They said -- he's the nominee. They said -- he's the one that we chose, we should rally.
So I shut up. I stopped my criticism. I voted for Romney.

Sarah was not cut so much slack. And I'm pretty sure that a lot of the folks who were 110% behind Romney -- and who were outraged that any Conservative might stay home rather than vote for Romney -- I think a lot of those folks helped to torpedo Sarah.

I know she wasn't perfect, but she really was our best hope since Reagan (I mean that) and a lot of us helped kill her.

I now support real Conservatives only. I'd support Sarah if she tried for a return. But the RINOs never supported what I wanted -- I no longer support what the RINOs want. If we have a future, it is with people like Sarah. We blew it once, and I hope that we get another chance and that if we do, we don't blow it again.

I've had it with being a good soldier and supporting Dole, Bush, McCain, Romney. I think it's time for the Establishment to shut up, stop their criticism, and support a Conservative.

Sarah can come back whenever she wants. She will start out with a shrill minorirty including many here. But she can build on that.

The environmentalists and gays are also shrill minorities. They own some media outlets.

As long as we can mob the likes of Chick-fil-A we also have power. Plus we have our own media outlets.

Indeed.

It has been very frustrating to see how effective conservatives are taken out. It’s not so much the liberal media that takes them out, but the people (supposedly) on our side who act as if the criticism leveled at conservatives by the liberal media has merit. Even here on FR, once the liberal media have criticized a conservative, people start throwing dirt on that person.

We conservatives need to learn something from the Democrats. A Democrat can do nearly anything, and the other Democrats will only stop defending them at the time they are arrested. We don’t need to defend criminals, but we certainly could do a lot more to defend people. Liberals really don’t have to do much to take down a conservative—they just come up with a criticism (it doesn’t even have to have substance), and conservatives will do the rest.

Passing Note: The left/media and Republican Establishment attacks those conservatives early and often that they truly fear. What does this say about people like Rubio? The Establishment embraces him no doubt and the media hasn’t really gone after him other than the question about how old the earth is in a article. Sure, if he runs for President, the national media will go at him but they go after anybody including moderate Republicans that opposes their democrat party buddies.

Can’t argue with this. The GOP was handed a political dynamo... a conservative superstar that resonated down deep into the populist culture, for the first time really since Reagan. Stellar record. Corruption fighter. Massive turnouts for speeches. Even after leaving office, Palin had a thousand people standing out during the night, in freezing temps, to get their books signed.

But the GOP? It just stands around and won’t lift a finger, when Dem political operatives conspired to bankrupt her and her family, the media savages her with outlandish smears and lies, late-night comedians make ‘rape’ jokes about her underage daughter, the national media deliberately tries to afix blame on her for a mass-murder in Tucson, millions spent by Hollywood to make a propaganda film to portray her as a mentally-ill nutcase, and it just went on and on. She worked her tail off in the 2008 and 2010 elections, and was one of the very few voices truly combatting Obama’s agenda in the beginning, while most other leaders were cowering behind trees (and many still are). But again, the GOP not only didn’t stand by her, but more often than not, they joined in with the scum in the media to trash her. Disgusting beyond words.

This latter situation showed me more than anything what constitutes the GOP. Cowardice and dishonor. I’ve been an exclusively Republican voter my entire life, but I lost every shred of trust and respect for the GOP due to all this.

Sarah Palin - lovely Sarah Palin - was targeted by Alinsky-folks, demonized, and destroyed.

This means that she was, and is today, a formidable, prophetic voice for all that is True. The clarion call of Truth always cuts through the muck, always rings true, and is always a threat to those with evil intentions.

It really started with Dan Quayle. He was just about a perfect candidate and did absolutely nothing wrong yet they literally destroyed him

Even many conservatives or so called conservatives joined the attack. After the media destroyed him, they knew they could do the same to any solid conservative they thought was a threat.

Team Romney's TYPICAL Dirty Tricks in 2008:

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

I don’t hate Palin, but she kind of mucked up in 2011 - 2012 by not running and thearby waving the white flag of defeat. If she had run, she would have had a decent shot at taking the weak GOP primary candidates out, including Mitt Romney. Hopefully, the next great conservative voice has the moxie to run and not be intimidated by the media, GOPE and Hollywood. Reagan ran despite the establishment not liking him and the left hating him and he won. He overcame his media and establishment created vulnerabilities by running a great campaign and aiming for the liberal jugular. This can be replicated again, that is, if a conservative has the guts to want to run.

Betrayal is a two way street. Any conservative who watched her April 15 2011 speech in Madison Wi. could say he was betrayed. That speech, ending with the words “ President Obama, Game On.” was a clarion call to arms, but Mrs. Palin made no effort to follow up. All the talk of concerns for her family, worries about the media bias are mere excuses for doing nothing but making a fiery speech here and there.

I don’t get this at all. No one “betrayed” Sarah Palin, least of all the GOP establishment, whoever that may be. You have to be in it to win it, and from the day McCain/Palin lost in November 2008, she gradually put herself farther out of it, entirely of her own doing.

The things which damaged her credibility in 2009 and 2010 — resigning from the Governorship, the television shows, family drama etc. — were not a GOP establishment conspiracy, but were her call altogether. Even with that, by the early autumn of 2011 with Mitt having little traction and the anyone-but-Mitt boom-and-bust cycle well underway, there was no one in the GOP establishment keeping her from running. She didn’t need a cent of their money or an iota of their approval.

The craziest thing about GOP establishment betrayal theory is that, disliked as she may have been, she would have had MORE support in dollars and attention than that garnered by either Gingrich and Santorum, whom the establishment regarded as has-been vanity campaigners certain to go down to crushing defeats in November if they were somehow nominated.

I don’t know if she would have beaten Mitt, but no one could, or would, have stopped her from giving it the best shot possible.

Even now, folks on our side are still beating up on Sarah Palin, saying Palin has lost her appeal -- Palin is unelectable -- Palin wasn't smart enough -- Palin wasn't prepared, etc.

Even now? January 2013?

Nobody is talking about Palin. Nobody's said anything about her for weeks, that I can find (except whoever wrote this article).

Wait until she actually decides to run for something and then you can complain all you want. Or, as kids used to say, if you like her so much then marry her. At least, don't say "even now" when you complain about what happened years ago.
