My first exposure to Zappa was through a roommate of mine that idolized him (and actually looked a lot like him).
The first time I heard “Crew Slut” I about fell off my chair laughing.

Another bass player checking in (and former hobby drummer)...towards the end of his life Zappa became very into “the art of the deal” and was doing a lot of business. He also did not do drugs (or drink IIRC) and did not understand or tolerate those that did in his band. Great talent gone way too early.
