The war is over, but intrigue, crisis, romance, and change still grip the beloved estate in the thrilling new season of Downton Abbey. Written and created by Julian Fellowes, with its all-star returning cast and Oscar-winning guest star Shirley MacLaine, Downton Abbey, Season 3 premieres January 6, 2013 on Masterpiece classic!
Post comments and predictions, please.
She was an awfully naughty girl the past few episodes.(which now may explain my attraction....)
A close second was when it was decided to make Tom the estate's agent and the Dowager said, "Yes. And then we can call him Branson again."
Maggie Smith rocks!
“Depending on how many years this saga covers, the child will probably grow up to become a solicitor who will be appointed to the bench and will one day sit in judgement of Ethel, who went back to the streets as a prostitute, having failed as a cook and maid, and unbeknownst to him that she is his mother, he will throw her in prison in the effort to rid the lower classes of the scourge of prostitution.”
Hey, I love your storyline. Incredibly imaginative. You should be a writer on the series.
Just goes to show what good makeup and hair can- and can’t!- do....
HAH! The screenwriters borrow liberally from Charles Dickens. I hope they are paying royalties to Dickens’ descendants.
You guys are cracking me up.
Pish-tosh! Maggie was phoning in her lines this week. Even she is tired of this old crock of a series.
And no wonder...look at who the bossman is...Julian Fellowes. (or is it Julian Fellatio?)
“Having failed as a cook”...that would describe 99% of today’s American women.
If you have major problems with all entertainment with which gays are involved, you must live a very drab life......
I'm going to have a little essay on Shirley McClain and her appearance on Downton Abbey on this thread sometime this coming week. A week's bout in the hospital with pneumonia has clipped my wings a little. But I''m carrying on in the best British stiff-upper-lip tradition, LOL.
Also, don't forget to bookmark this thread if you haven't as yet because I'm sure there'll be scads of critiques coming up on tonight's final episode.
Enjoy your evening, my dear friends.
Rule Britannia.....where there'll always be a Freepershire....

She is when she lets her hair down—literally. Just google her.
I predict that Rose will be back.
Please get well, that’s nasty stuff!
Enjoy the show tonight as will I.

I thought it was weird how they fast forwarded Mary’s Pregnancy. Last week she wasn’t pregnant. This week she gives birth.
And then the ending happened....Downton had to have the heir.
Well, now that Matthew is a goner, who will Mary end up with? And Tom, the Irish renegade, now running the estate, who will he end up with, the flapper girl, daughter of Scottish aristocracy who is coming to live with the Earl and Lady Grantham? Will they end up a twosome? Or, very outside chance, would Mary with her new baby, heir to the Estate, and Tom, with his baby by Sybil, both join the lonely hearts club band and end up together? Or will Mary have a new romance or remain forever true to Matthew’s memory? And will Anna end up preggers by Bates? And will the old Doc and Mrs. Crawley end up together? Will Thomas have unrequited love for Jimmy forever, as they become best bud’s. And is Ethel now a goner or will she come back in some further episode? So many loose ends, so little time.... But Carson and Mrs. Hughes will keep it all together, the glue of Downton Abbey.
