The Coming Storm
Short Essay | 1/1/13 | William of Barsoom

Posted on 01/01/2013 8:36:24 AM PST by William of Barsoom

I am an American.

I was born that way. In a small town in New England right at the end of World War II, in which my father was a submariner. We weren’t rich at all -- we were just regular people. When my turn came it was called Vietnam.

“I am an American. I was born to this duty and this blessing. My people have always been bred and are always prepared for this fight.”

Please forgive me for what I must write, as I do so very much wish I could accept the above line of yours.

However, living in the epicenter of America's latest and largest attempt at perfecting socialism, the following can't be denied - though I wish it were otherwise.

In the third line I quoted, lies a faulty premise - “My people have always been bred and are always prepared for this fight.”

All the large majority of urban young know how to ‘fight for’ was expressed by the “Occupy” crowd of Gimme Pigs. And don't forget their parents, as exemplified by the “Obama Phone” woman in the famous youTube video.

I cling to the hope that when civil war or race war commie's to America, that there will be sufficient people who will, as Daniel Webster said ‘cling to the Constitution and the Republic for which it stands’.

Having written and taught curriculum for the 4th largest Pooblik Skrewl Collective (Miami, FL), I can find no justification for any optimism. Both teachers and students are woefully ignorant of even the basics of American history and their familiarity with the Constitution is maggot gagging bad.

Worst of all, the young voters (note I refused to call those things young Americans) were deliberately inculcated with concepts which effectively make them immune to education in the sense which you and I use the term.

I fear that when battle comes, so many young will be on the sidelines clutching an EBT card and an iPhone (or joining one of the many Agency of Oppression bureaucracies like Homeland Security, TSA, ad nauseam), that those defending the Constitution will be a white-haired equivalent of Custer's last Stand.

If Reagan and Thatcher were correct in their appraisal of historian Paul Johnson, and I agree with their positive opinion of his writings, then you may understand why Paul Johnson's line “If the American experiment in self government fails, that which will come after will be unspeakably worse.” haunts me when I attempt to see what lies ahead.

Factor in that we reelected a Muslim and are now led by a rabidly anti_American who squats in the White Mosque, and you know why I disagree with your analogizing your parents generation and your family with the unacculturated Urban Ferals, Blacks, Hispanics, imported Muslims, ad nauseam.

Those are not Americans in any historic sense. They are the destroyers of America and they are in Section 8 housing AND in agency and education positions as I type.

Sadly agreed. The OP is a Vietnam vet. Great guys, but that makes even the youngest possible of them (17 in 1973) 57 years old. Hell, I joined too late for Vietnam, retired Active Duty in 1998, and am already almost at that age. God knows I cannot do the things I could in my 20’s.

We won’t win a hot war with old men. We need young people on our side. Otherwise, it’s futile. You can go down fighting, but you won’t win.

Good piece.

Look: no one really knows how this thing is going to play out, but anyone who thinks it will all be settled peaceably and amicably, with the economy allowing us to "grow" out of our troubles - is delusional.

It will be ugly and painful and the country will be divided in a manner the likes of which we have not seen since oh, around 1860.

I'm not leaving. But I am moving to the South next year. I love my home state but it's surrounded by and been invaded by people I can no longer live with, because they are increasingly committed to a vision of government I cannot support, one that takes ever-increasing amounts of my money and freedom.

Well, I guess when a con man comes into town, the solution is to build a bunker and talk about revolution. For crying out loud, the DEMOCRATS AREN’T INVINCIBLE GIANTS. We just have to peel-off three or four percent of their votes. Obama took his family to Hawaii for a vacation. HAWAII. Not Cuba. Not China. HAWAII. So long as we keep building bunkers and talking revolution, we play right into their hands. They don’t want socialism. Do you think they want to wear ill-fitting suits and drive around in 50 year old cars? And these Grifters are smart enough to send Shills to post on Free Republic.

There are two very important weapons for this war. The left has been very adept at using them.

Their use doesn't seem to be taught in schools or much of anywhere else, in fact most people aren't even aware of there existence.

Robert's Rules of Order and Mason's Rules.

Parliamentary procedure.

Mason's has nothing to do with the Masonic organization, it just happens to be the name of the author.

There may be other rule sets, but these are the ones I've used.

To start fighting the war, join your county Republican Committee.

Either find another like thinking small government, constitutional government thinker there, or recruit one.

With the proper use of parliamentary procedure, you can take over an amazing amount with just two people.

For instance, you word an amendment to sound good. You propose the amendment, you friend seconds it. You or he moves to move the amendment, the other seconds it. Done quickly you can get things voted on before your opposition even knows what happened.

So far I think the best way to get things done is dragging the Republican party back to the constitution and small government, then chip away at the mess the rats and rinos have created.

Word to the wise Sedition is still a crime in this country and if you get charged you’re in a world of legal trouble.

What? Are you literate? Have you seriously read those who truly committed seditious acts in the past.

To even suggest this "essay" is seditious is beyond ludicrous. Your comment shows the heart of either an arrogant snit or a pitifully weak coward. Pathetic.

read “about” those. Also you forgot the question mark after the word past.

And you ask if I’m literate? ..LOL

As far as whether the OP or some of the other posters on this thread are playing with legal fire regarding sedition, I’m not going to do your work for you. Look it up yourself.

Lots of comments about civilians taking on the government..

If the two Americas are headed for another civil war there's a large standing military this time and it will have to choose sides and lead.

Otherwise..

A Mockery of Justice The Great Sedition Trial of 1944

There are plenty of precedents to handle opposition even as expressed to date, FDR's DoJ for example.

Fortunately this case was thrown out but not before weeks of trial and extreme hardship for the accused. BTW, a Washington Post employee helped DoJ entrap the victims to force a trial in D.C. These critics of FDR could be described as FReepers -- DoJ lumped in some known Nazi sympathizers to try to stir opinion against them -- the same thing happens today.

.. and here is another precedent: Lincoln defending his decision to end writ of habeas corpus:

should everything fail because that one law "made in such extreme tenderness of the citizens' liberty that practically it relieves more of the guilty than of the innocent . . . [cannot] to a very limited extent be violated?" You want "the government itself go to pieces?"

Lincoln simply ignored Chief Justice Roger Taney. That is exactly what Obama is good at.. ignoring the other two branches of government.

There was no large standing army back then, civilians had to put together their local militia -- much of the standing army was out west. Things are different today.

Well said. Great work! Many of us were “too complicated” to employ in the waning paradigm of today. Come tomorrow, our closer relationship with physical realities and hard work will be a good thing. Have fun. Enjoy the slide to freedom, buddy. I am, so far.

It’s like a starship chase in Star Trek, you can only run for so long, at some point, you have to turn around and fight. The left keeps pushing and pushing, at some point, one on our side, or more, will explode and hit back much like how Ralphie went total ape on Scut Farkus in “A Christmas Story.”

“The Constitution Party,” for them’s as is brave enough to embrace it. Anyone who is embarrassed by the Constitution has not understood it, and is likely no friend of it. It’s a good filter, that name.

The country you choose is a personal choice based on what you need, languages you speak, cost of living, immigration restrictions, gun ownership, etc.

Rank your priorities and check out the top 2-3 countries. Countries where many expats are going include Costa Rica, Panama, Paraguay, Ecuador, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil, Singapore, and the Philippines.

My family and I looked at others too. In the end, we became residents of one of the countries listed above but have retained U.S. citizenship, pay U.S. taxes etc.

The goal isn’t to abandon the U.S. but to have a viable escape when everything implodes.

America elected - - and then RE-ELECTED! - - an African communist as President and Commander-in-Chief.
The parasites outnumber the hosts now.
America is dead and gone. The Democrats won.

Remember America fondly for what it was but meanwhile, hunker down, stay under the radar, hide your assets as best you can, and take care of your family. If you can find a way to game the system and get at least some of the tax money back that you dumped down the government toilet your whole working life, then do it before the Democrat parasites gobble it all up. SSDI is a popular scam these days. Also, maybe you can sign your dog up for food stamps - - nobody in the bureaucracy really gives a crap.

Good luck.
