“I am an American. I was born to this duty and this blessing. My people have always been bred and are always prepared for this fight.”

Please forgive me for what I must write, as I do so very much wish I could accept the above line of yours.

However, living in the epicenter of America's latest and largest attempt at perfecting socialism, the following can't be denied - though I wish it were otherwise.

In the third line I quoted, lies a faulty premise - “My people have always been bred and are always prepared for this fight.”

All the large majority of urban young know how to ‘fight for’ was expressed by the “Occupy” crowd of Gimme Pigs. And don't forget their parents, as exemplified by the “Obama Phone” woman in the famous youTube video.

I cling to the hope that when civil war or race war commie's to America, that there will be sufficient people who will, as Daniel Webster said ‘cling to the Constitution and the Republic for which it stands’.

Having written and taught curriculum for the 4th largest Pooblik Skrewl Collective (Miami, FL), I can find no justification for any optimism. Both teachers and students are woefully ignorant of even the basics of American history and their familiarity with the Constitution is maggot gagging bad.

Worst of all, the young voters (note I refused to call those things young Americans) were deliberately inculcated with concepts which effectively make them immune to education in the sense which you and I use the term.

I fear that when battle comes, so many young will be on the sidelines clutching an EBT card and an iPhone (or joining one of the many Agency of Oppression bureaucracies like Homeland Security, TSA, ad nauseam), that those defending the Constitution will be a white-haired equivalent of Custer's last Stand.

If Reagan and Thatcher were correct in their appraisal of historian Paul Johnson, and I agree with their positive opinion of his writings, then you may understand why Paul Johnson's line “If the American experiment in self government fails, that which will come after will be unspeakably worse.” haunts me when I attempt to see what lies ahead.

Factor in that we reelected a Muslim and are now led by a rabidly anti_American who squats in the White Mosque, and you know why I disagree with your analogizing your parents generation and your family with the unacculturated Urban Ferals, Blacks, Hispanics, imported Muslims, ad nauseam.

Those are not Americans in any historic sense. They are the destroyers of America and they are in Section 8 housing AND in agency and education positions as I type.

Sadly agreed. The OP is a Vietnam vet. Great guys, but that makes even the youngest possible of them (17 in 1973) 57 years old. Hell, I joined too late for Vietnam, retired Active Duty in 1998, and am already almost at that age. God knows I cannot do the things I could in my 20’s.

We won’t win a hot war with old men. We need young people on our side. Otherwise, it’s futile. You can go down fighting, but you won’t win.
