Today is my "Going Galt" day as I retired in preparation of moving to the retreat in the mountains. To wash the taste of work and DC out of my mouth and to bask in the atmosphere of good vibes I decided to go to the 1000-table gun show at the Dulles Expo center about 15 miles from DC.
As I approached the neighborhood, traffic was so heavy I could hardly even get off the highway, "No biggie," sez I as it was Friday afternoon. As I approached the Expo Center I saw a different truth, that it was traffic to the gun show that caused the gridlock.
I have never before been to a big gun show where not only was there no parking to be had, but there was gridlock in the parking lot and I wound up parking a couple shopping centers away.
The came the entry lines. There were two lines snaking around the huge hall all the way around to the back, essentially four blocks long. There were hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in line and it took ONE HOUR to get inside. Once inside, there was virtually no moving around as the crowd was so huge there was almost no floor space available for walking.
ARs were flying out of there, and it seemed like the floor price level was in the $2600 range, with some tricked out versions going for close to $5k. Ammo was plentiful but price was up about %50 from the last time I bought any. And guys were wheeling out hand trucks of it.
The dealers were saying that today was nothing compared to what they expect tomorrow. One reloading supplier told me he expects to have virtually no inventory to pack up and haul home at the end of Sunday.
Yep, Barack Hussein Obamao is the nation's #1 gun salesman for the fifth year in a row.
Now, back to "Going Galt."
Bushmaster just sent me a Confirmation Notice this morning that they’d received my order (5 days after placing on 12/24) and that it was being processed. Hot-damn!
You sir have hit the nail on the head.
Romney was a “Republican” from the North East. Around my parts he would be called a “Liberal Democrat”. His stand on guns was not much different from Obama’s.
Remember GHW Bush and the first Assault Weapons Ban? We stayed home for that election, and slick Willie went to Washington. Slick did less harm to the second amendment.
If the Republicans want to win they need a candidate who brings the pro gun voters to the polls with enthusiasm.

I talked with a local guy I know slightly, yesterday. His little company makes high end handloading equipment. He says his business (which I would expect to be not really applicable) has been insanely busy.
He told me about another local manufacturer that's making thirty thousand AR lowers, a week. (This would be the back end of the chain, making raw aluminum into a part, for the likes of Bushmaster, et al.)
I’ve not yet been to one of these gatherings they call “gun shows”.
How would I find where there’s going to be one in my general area (65 miles north of NYC, in CT)...?
I always went to huge gun shows in Houston with my husband because there were tables and tables full of antiques of every kind. For some reason they stopped with the antiques and I haven’t been back since.
One time my husband took a Dutch friend, very liberal but nice. The guy came back and looked like he had been clubbed in the head. He said he didn’t know that many guns existed in the entire world and being anti gun, he was despondent.
Here in Colorado people can do face-to-face sales and are only supposed to check the drivers license of the buyer to make sure they are a resident of the state. That is the only way I buy anymore.
Done right, those 5,000 troops would not last 3 days.
The people who are the greatest threat to them already have food for months.
It would all depend on who controlled the information flow.
If you control the information flow, you do not need the 5,000 troops.
Isn’t that a violation of the law? To make the “Instant” background check take longer than 72 hours?
Thanks for reminding me about Tanner. I’m off tomorrow.
I thought there was a time limit too, but just telling what I heard on the radio news report.
I read it on the Internet so it must be true.

Gonna be hard for them to choke the system while they're ducking incoming rounds.
