I wish to purchase an FN-FAL and an AR-15, and I would like to do so with a fellow freeper who can accept payments over a period of months. There would be no delivery of the firearm until the payments are completed.

Yeah, they’re pretty much all gone now. And January is a big “maybe” for resupply.

Blackthorn is the new name for the awful that was known as Hesse Arms. DO NOT BUY.

I found an ugly, highly used (I mean beat) Century FAL yesterday for $775
I am sure it is gone today.

I have seen both a blackthorn and a cmmg bolt brake. Drop in a new bolt and up and running again. It's not the 1990's anymore. Even the cheap AR kits are pretty dang reliable.
If i had to choose between nothing or a blackthorne kit AR, I'd take the blackthorne everytime. this thread was started by a guy without enough money for an outright buy.
Unarmed procrastinators need to get what they can afford, as quickly as possible, and stock up on ammo.
Personally I run a SCAR17 these days.

Nah, they’re there. Just subsumed in all the AR stuff. FALfiles.com has several members selling ‘extras’ including a nice carbine model FAL.

Yes, but Hesse/Vulcan/Blackthorn pieces have been known to be out of spec and they do not stand behind their product. Worse, their receivers have been known to fail within a couple hundred rounds. Improper heat treatment, poor machining, etc., is the order of the day.
There are other kits and makers out there at similar price points that aren’t as crap or dangerous as H/V/B.

I'm trying to acknowledge your point without dicouraging the procrastinators. The time for being selective has come and passed.
If I only had $600 to get set up I'd get an AK. If I only had $150 i'd get an AR lower before the ban, followed by a cheap kit then upgrade a apiece at a time as I could afford.

I'm thinking old school. Maybe a Remington Model 8 with the Police package in .35 Remington.
Frank Hamer rained on Bonnie and Clyde with one. A J.M. Browning creation, you think Kalasnikov "borrowed" the safety design?

Where are you going to get ammo?

It’s the only Model 8 chambering still available, the .30 and .32 Remington vanished by the 80’s. Although the .30 Remington casing was the basis for both the 10MM pistol and 6.8 SPC rounds.
To: mylife
There’s been some surfacing lately, but what I saw more of at the last show was new production Prvi going for the same price as the surplus as well as a bunch of 90s German surplus.
