"There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its last bow. Here was the last ever to be seen of Knights and their Ladies Fair, of Master and of Slave. Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind."

Wow....you really raised a good son. I am impressed.
manc, am I correct that you are originally from England? We are so honored and pleased to have you as a Southerner. I wish we could send off some of our home-growns and import more folks like you, LOL.

Fun, absorbing, exciting, thrilling, romantic, colorful, big, and rousingly entertaining.
A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
That's why I stressed that Citizen Kane is a film (insert snooty accent here)
You marvel at the composition, the depth-of-field camera work, Orson Wells, Joseph Cotton, Agnes Moorehead...the cinematography of Gregg Toland, the script by Herman J. Mankiewicz, the editing of Robert Wise and an ending that was so perfect that it has become a cliché and been parodied more times than can be counted.
Certainly not everyone's cup of tea...but what art isn't?
"I saw it in the window and just couldn't resist it".
I finally got around to reading it in high school many moons ago (a little injun lingo) and you are right. Fabulous book.
I remember being shocked to see she had more children than just Bonnie.
Classic line.
Thank you. I’ve seen the skit a thousand times, and it still cracks me up.
“There has never been a movie which has focused on the disgusting acts of how the south was treated, the land taken and women raped.”
Birth of a Nation? (D.W. Griffith, 1915)

Your kids lasted longer than I did. CK is one of those revolutionary movies that just do not stand the test of time. The eyelids start drooping about ten minutes into the flick. Ditto for GWTW. Basically just an overproduced chick flick. Mad Magazine did the best review of it.
Rhett: hello Scarlett
Scarlett: hello Rhett
Boom!!!
Good heavens that was an awful war!
bttt
LOL, Thanks and yes you are correct.
I came over and lived up north and heard many comments about southerners and so I thought I had to check it out for myself and drove to TN, SC, NC,VA, basically a big loop around.
I LOVED IT, LOVED THE PEOPLE, the southern accent on a woman is the sexiest acent in the world.
It was not how I was told , the south was friendly, kids said sir and mam, people helped out and took others for who they were, they were very accepting unlike those in a place in MA where an elitist type of folk lived.\\
We then moved south to north east FL ,I wanted east TN LOL, she won. Over those years I saw some who moved down here give bitter comments, I heard off many here how they just want to be left alone how the north and Hollywood stereotypes made them look stupid .
They were correct and so I looked more and more into the history
My kids who were basically raised southern and are now proud southerners.
My youngest boy was one when I moved here and my daughter was 3
They have travelled around many places in the south and my oldest wants to stop this stereotype.
We’re all fed up of movies today, people not from here making comments and not knowing about the flag, the food, the accents, the lifestyle.
I LOVE IT HERE and do fly the flag, do speak up if I hear certain comments as does my family.
wow thank you
A lovely story....God bless you, sir.
I would nominate Birth of a Nation.
I just recently found out that Ozzy urinated onto the Alamo while in drag...good Lord.
I didn’t know that the Brits are pro-South....makes me like them that much more.
I’ll say this, British actors seem capable of doing better & more realistic Southern accents than many American counterparts. There are three of them playing leading roles on the Walking Dead, and they all sound authentically Southern.
they better not kill off Daryl
If they kill Daryl, I’m not watching any longer.
just watching it now
if Daryl goes I go , LOL.
