I did Freshman and half of Sophmore year at #39, St. John’s College. It’s a good program and I regret I didn’t have the maturity to get the most out of it.

I’m pretty sure the three military academies are on all kinds of lists, and liberal arts schools for $50k? No thanks. No liberal art degree is worth that much.

My niece went to Curtis, my god-son to RISD and my brother-in-law went to Kings Point. Me, I went somewhere else.

The list that never ends. Maybe excerpting would have been a good idea.

I stopped reading here:

Haverford College: Notable alumni include Dave Barry, humorist ...

Not exactly a selling point. And not exactly a typical Haverford grad. He probably does make more money than a lot of them, though.

A vigorous football program is the best sign available that you should go elsewhere to seek an education.

"Swarthmore, Smith and Williams may be somewhat rigorous academically, but they are standard-issue, far-leftist campuses. Hillsdale, they ain’t."

You mean the Hillsdale that advertises constitutional originalism, but steers a wide path around Ch. Justice John Marshall's elucidation of Article II Section 1 in his section of the decision in The Venus, 12 US 253 (1814), and never mentions our first congressional historian's essay on citizenship, Dr. David Ramsay's "Dissertation on Citizenship", nor the precedent confirming twenty five or so non-precedential citations, found in Minor v. Happersett. Hillsdale must owe someone! For those who take the trouble to read, forget Hillsdale and read original sources. At least with openly biased schools one knows to verify everything, which is a good lesson for life anyway.

If #1 son is still at Amherst, tell him to say hi to Joey Fritz. Ohio State Champion tennis player and fantastic young man.

My son goes to the same school, Cincinnati Country Day School, as he did. Joey is a rare kid of humility, talent and smarts.

A very rare combination in this age.

If all Amherst kids are as good as him it must be quite a school.

I went to Swarthmore. Engineering 2001. The college actually ends up being much cheaper than most private schools because they will meet all of your financial need with scholarships. The school is liberal as it comes but I knew that going in. The engine program is top notch. Plus it was fun arguing with liberal profs.

The kids on my freshman hall didn’t like me blaring Rush on the radio. I thought it was funny. :)

That’s great if you get scholarships. I know the campus is amazing looking. I’m trying to finish my Engineering here at UFlorida now.

I can’t believe they didn’t like Rush. They were probably listening to Cypress Hill or something like that.

The nearly free aspect and lack of distractions is probably why it rated so high.

Williamstown where Williams college is has to be one of the most beautiful areas of the country. I bicycled through southern Vermont and the northwest corner of Massachusetts in the fall one year & just loved the place. Beautiful campus.

They were going to list him, but when they sought his approval, they couldn't find him.

Yes I do know of Deep Springs College. Not far from my home. Peter Jennings son attended there a few years ago.
