This was Apple's first Christmas with us. She got sprayed with the squirt bottle right after this was taken, but it didn't stop her from pulling that ornament off the tree and breaking off the dangly bit at the bottom.
This one's from last year. We had no ornament casualties this time around.
I guess this stocking belongs to Apple, but apparently she'd rather lie on it than hang it on the chimney in hopes that Santa Claws brings her some kitty treats (not that she'd ever eat them)...
This year's Christmas challenges: keeping Monkey from playing with low-hanging ornaments. I don't think we have to worry about Patch just yet, as she's nursing a broken paw right now.
Cockroach croaked a long time ago. He’s out.
I have a domesticated feral cat with a name quite similar to that of yours! She’s a tortoiseshell, who we named Patch because she has a very prominent patch of orange fur around her right eye.
Magnificent canines you got there!
Hmm, is my reply certain to bring the disapproving Doberman upon me for observing a lack of Halla pictures thus far?
;)
I am not sophisticated enough to post pictures.
Today...I have an ancient black lab with a white face, creaky joints and fading mind. No need to post a pic..old black labs all look the same. lol
I also have a feral outdoor kitty gal. How did you get a feral to be an indoor kitty? I worry about her and would love to bring her inside. She has no interest in being inside. Suggestions?
He’s pretty
Those are great Awwwwwwwww pictures.
She was an aging feral cat who would come to my door everyday and I would put some food and water out for her.
I’m not much of a cat person but I love animals so I continued to feed her for years but it wasn’t long before other strays in the neighborhood appeared on my porch to eat her food.
She would fight them but she was getting old and usually was driven off.
One day when I put food out she came on the porch, she was very thin and disheveled, she looked at me with fear in her eyes and dashed inside and stayed inside.
Slowly, she adapted to her surroundings and now she’s acting like kitten, rolling on the floor and playing with toys I bought for her.
The only tip I could give you is patience but you could try one thing, try luring her inside with food, like tuna, just inside the door, once she see’s that she is not in danger her fear will diminish.
It didn’t work for me but it might work for a younger cat because the fear of humans are not as deep seated yet.
Best of luck.
Thank you! Sadly, Timber is no longer with us, but waits patiently at the Rainbow Bridge. Ranger is carrying the mantel well, however :-)
Cute Miko pictures!
Bump for a great thread!
Thank you!
There are some terrific pictures on this thread. I love seeing everyone's babies.
You'll need to get some Sunny and Harley Christmas pictures now. I don't think this one qualifies...
Thanks for your reply.
I tried the food inside the door trick...once she figured out the door was closed and she couldn’t get back outside all he!! would break loose.
I trapped her when she and her babies showed up about 5 years ago and had her (and them) fixed. And I keep her as comfortable as possible with a heated bed during cold weather. She will at least let me pet her now...if there is food or treats involved, lol. She stays real close to the house.
Sounds like it was your kitty’s decision to come inside. Maybe mine will make that decision as well some day...as long as it is her idea.
[I tried the food inside the door trick.]
I should have told you never close the door and back away with no sudden movement.
It definitely got to their idea to come inside, you could try it again with food that a cat can’t resist but keep putting it a little further inside every time.
But you said the cat allows you to pet her now and if you were able to get her to vet without scaring her, sounds to me she trusts you now.
I have found, at least with Patches, you can tell by their eyes, they will show trust.
Nah.
It’s really hard to photogrpah her staying still because she rarely does.
That’s why she’s a video star.
;D
