A video of a French girl being told to “speak English or die” by fellow passengers on a bus in Australia has led to condemnation by local press and politicians.
The unnamed girl was coming back from a day at the beach with friends in Melbourne when a few of the passengers on the bus, notably two men, started shouting at her for singing popular French songs.
Another passenger, Mike Nayna, filmed the whole incident, admitting afterwards that he himself had been the victim of racial insults on public transport before.
One man shouted “speak English or die” to the French girl, and following jaunts from other passengers he said: “everybody on the bus wants to kill you, and you’re going to have to get off eventually, bitch”.
While speaking on his phone, he also described the girl as fat and “as ugly as f**king sin”, and threatened to cut her breasts off.
The Prime Minister of the state of Victoria, of which Melbourne is the capital, has called the incident “absolutely shameful, and has called upon other to “give these people up so they can be brought to justice.”
Australian media has largely responded by criticizing the actions of the other bus passengers.
In an editorial in the Sydney Morning Herald, a journalist fiercely criticised the behaviour of the “idiots” on the bus and explained the incident as “mass hysteria, (due to) a deficient education or an unhappy past”.
This happened in Quebec, right? oh, wait, that would be the other way around.
Hard to tell what happened from this video. The Australians seemed pretty p*ssed off. I suspect that the girl & her friends were doing something more than happily ‘singing french songs’.

Unfortunately, no. This incident happened quite near where I live. The women was abused for no good reason whatsoever.
Most Australians are not bigots but we have our share like anywhere else does. Unfortunately, she was unlucky enough to run into some of them.
They also vandalised the bus by smashing one of the rear windows.
If thats the case then I hope they get their arses kicked.
At least they weren’t Australian Muzzies proclaiming “Speak praise of Allah” or die.
I suspect alcohol may have been involved too.
Public Transportation is such a societal benefit, every one should be forced to use it.
“Speak english or die” an old song from Sgt. D and the stormtroopers of death. 1985. Picked up by certain types as their anthem due to the lyrics, even tho’ the band members disputed the claims of racisim against them.
Hardcore metal to put it lightly.

Wow, even the French aren’t that rude, usually.
If she was singing La Jeune Garde (The Young Guard), I might have felt that way, too.

Nothing to do with race, everything to do with shouting down a couple loud and rude drunks on a bus.
