"WE WANT BEER PARADE"
It was a sign of the times when the Mayor is the one leading protesters down Fifth Avenue. On May 14, 1932 Jimmy Walker, then the Mayor of New York City, organized a daylong Beer for Taxation parade (later known as the We Want Beer parade) in objection to the Eighteenth Amendment, which prohibited the manufacture, sale, transport, import, or export of alcoholic beverages.

Notice how the protesters dressed—everyone wore a hat, a coat and a tie.

Quite a reasonable demand.
Well-dressed crowd of citizens.
Glad their demands were met.

Has a cause ever been more just?
I want cheap(er) boutique beers (Blue Moon, e.g.). I can't subsist on Miller Lite, Busch Light, Milw.'s Best Light, Keystone Light, etc. :( :))

Whisky's too rough
Champagne costs too much
Vodka puts my mouth in gear.
This little refrain
Should help to explain
As a matter of fact I like beer (He likes beer!)

Perhaps we can soon march for our 32 oz sodas.
Because you can get a 32 oz beer in New York, but not a 32 oz Coke.

Beer has seen me through a few bleak difficult times. I would feel compelled to be there for beer if it needed me.
