They are not only the fastest growing population in the country, but Latinos are also spending 3 times more at the super market than everyone else.
With more than $1 trillion in purchasing power, Latino consumers like Arlette Mendoza are gaining the attention of big name brands.
I personally like it," said the mother of two. "I think it's good that everyone else is discovering just how good our food is."
Cereal companies, including General Mills are using flavors like Dulce de Leche with the hope of appealing to the growing Latino consumer.
Richie Matthews is President of DIÁLOGO, a national public relations agency that services brands targeting the Hispanic market.
He says with Latinos making up a third of San Diego's population, several companies are using the area as a test market. The brands are positioning themselves so that they not only incorporate more market share but so they're relevant and I think that's the name of the game for any consumer brand, said Matthews.
He also says the Latino market is craving nostalgic cultural flavors like lime, chili, and Latin infused coffee just to name a few.
So now when you go to the grocery store you will see more Latino flavors spread out beyond the ethnic food aisle to the mainstream.
I see you’ve got better, and more astonishing, numbers than I do.
These should be central to the amnesty debate—only in part because they demonstrate that having the GOP give in with another massive amnesty will do absolutely nothing to increase the small percentage of votes they win from the demographic.
I agree. It is a crock that they are pro-life.
Exit poll results found that about two-thirds of Hispanics (66%) said that abortion should be legal while 28% disagreed. Among all voters, a somewhat smaller majority (59%) would allow legal abortions while 37% were opposed.

The free market goes where the dollars are and if the dollars are in non-English speakers then that's where the food, entertainment and culture goes. So too will the choices the rest of us have to eat. This won't simply mean additional choices but replacement products as demand from this group outweighs demand from other purchasers. There isn't infinite shelf space or manufacturing capacity to accommodate marginal sellers.
I've been learning to accept that I exist on the cultural margins when it comes to food, entertainment and even political thinking.
Test marketing in San Diego is nothing new. It's one of the highlights of living there. Of course it's on its way to becoming indistinguishable from L.A. and in time it won't be recognizable in character. Given the results of this latest election that time may be here.
General Mills discovered you many years ago. I was at a local grocery store one day. in the corner at the entrance were some well known cereal GE brands in Spanish on the box priced much lower than the ones in English. They were the same cereals. So it’s not like one day they magically discovered you.
Well, they swarm — and I mean SWARM the malls and stores here in N. Virginia. See them all the time with multiple shopping bags hanging off the strollers — a lot of them are dressed to the hilt and driving brand new pick ups, SUV’s, etc. Some not, but many are.
I’ve also seen our welfare offices in Arlington and other places packed to standing room only with hispanics and illegals of all races and ethnicities.
We are being royally ripped off. Guess it just can’t last forever once all the dough actually runs out.
I will say that I do see SOME beginning to hold down higher end jobs — in banks, in dr and dentist’s offices, cell phone stores, etc. Most are pleasant and have good customer service skills — at least the younger kids. I’m sure they are becoming more educated. Problem is, for every one of those, they bring along 20 uneducated family member peasants with multiple chronic health problems which we taxpayers end up being on the hook for. I don’t care how they great are ... what good is it if it’s going to crash our economy?
Our country is being stolen from us. And we are just sitting here like bumps on logs, just allowing it.
While we watch our football games ...go to our concernts, and our movies, and watch our favorite shows on TV. Duh.
Sad. Can Mama baby or Daddy Baby thinking be far away? That is going backwards if this is true.
Day labor, cash off the books. Contractors are glad to do it too, saves them money.
They have 4-5 kids. Thats why. Plus the govt. is giving then money to spend.
How can they afford it let me count the ways
A) If getting fake documents is so easy why not get several?
B) Work had off the books and then apply for every social program you can find, since your reported income is so low.
C) Have several Bambinos each one increases your take from Uncle Sam
D) Make sure you only speak Spanish at the hand out office so you will be assisted by one of your own
It would seem the old saying is right the streets are paved with gold in America. Is all you have to do is apply for it. Maybe we conservatives should take lessons from them since they have perfected going Gault.
They can spend all they want. They’ll NEVER outspend Barry and the ‘RATS.
Abortion, unsurprisingly, has consequences.
The household size of U.S. Hispanic families is the largest of The average Hispanic family has 4.0 members, compared to 2.9 members in the average white, non-Hispanic family. And only 4% of adult Hispanics live alone, compared to 15% of white non-Hispanics.

More often than not, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, they eat family meals at home, and spend less than average on alcohol. They’re moving to the suburbs, tend to be community-oriented, and have high aspirations for their children. In short, they are the sweet market for consumer goods and services that the entire nation used to be when baby boomers were young.
Fully 91% of Hispanic children were born in the U.S., compared to only 47% of Hispanic adults, which has great implications for the demographic’s speed of acculturation.
More than 1 in 3 Hispanics in the U.S. (34.3%) are children under 18 years old, as compared to fewer than one in four children (22.5%) that are non-Hispanics.
About half of Hispanic consumers live in California and Texas. The other six states having more than one million Hispanics are Florida, New York, Illinois, Arizona, New Jersey and Colorado.
By 2015, millions of baby boomers will have begun retiring, thus reducing their consumer spending. Hispanic consumers will play a major role in replacing those...

The English did this very effectively with the conquered Scots and Irish...
Penalty of death if caught using your native language, Gaelic, instead of the conquerors’ English.
If you don’t know history, you are bound to make the same mistakes.
So amazing...I used to enjoy shopping at Potomac Mills when we lived in No VA, quite a few years ago...went there abt three years ago to do some shopping for number one and only son and was stunned at the change! The place was packed with loitering Hispanics, all at the food court and walking around, didn’t see much buying. I’ll never go there again because of the rudeness, non-shoppers, loitering, etc.
I visit a relative in Ventura, CA every now and then and expect this in the Walmart but cripes! No VA was a shock...
