They are not only the fastest growing population in the country, but Latinos are also spending 3 times more at the super market than everyone else.
With more than $1 trillion in purchasing power, Latino consumers like Arlette Mendoza are gaining the attention of big name brands.
I personally like it," said the mother of two. "I think it's good that everyone else is discovering just how good our food is."
Cereal companies, including General Mills are using flavors like Dulce de Leche with the hope of appealing to the growing Latino consumer.
Richie Matthews is President of DIÁLOGO, a national public relations agency that services brands targeting the Hispanic market.
He says with Latinos making up a third of San Diego's population, several companies are using the area as a test market. The brands are positioning themselves so that they not only incorporate more market share but so they're relevant and I think that's the name of the game for any consumer brand, said Matthews.
He also says the Latino market is craving nostalgic cultural flavors like lime, chili, and Latin infused coffee just to name a few.
So now when you go to the grocery store you will see more Latino flavors spread out beyond the ethnic food aisle to the mainstream.
Latinos are spending faster because they originated from high-inflation economy states. If you aren’t fast to change your money for goods you are a big loser in Latin America, Africa, some parts of Eastern Europe and Asia. A new car today is a fridge today and a pack of skittles tomorrow. It is cultural habit and they can’t get rid of it in a couple generations.
The night we took our puppy to the e-vet hospital in Winchester VA, an Hispanic family brought in a Pit who’d been hit by a car.
While we had to max out our cards, empty our wallets and *still* beg for money to cover her expenses, they simply paid cash for a fixed up dog who had two surgeries, multiple pins in his hind legs and numerous stitches.
It had to have cost them several thousand dollars, based on the $1300 we laid out just for an exam, worm check, CBC, IV drips and overnight stay [at 90 per 6 hour increments] and some antibiotics and prescription food.
They didn’t look like doctors or lawyers.
I also see them at local car auctions in droves, laying out wads of cash for used vehicles.
WTH are they getting all this money?
Which is why nothing is done about immigration. The powers that be prefer pliable customers, not responsible ones.
Welfare is not a savings plan it is meant to be spent.
The task of the conservative is to find a leader or leaders who can convince the white haters, looters and just plain shiftless that Madison is preferable to Marx
Sharpest post on here so far.
“WTH are they getting all this money?”
Some mexicans rent up the street. Three VERY nice SUV’s and 3 junkers. (3? families crammed in there I think).
See the county social services over there once in awhile. Asked a neighbor about it if there was trouble. No - they bring stuff, do some medical checks on the kids, etc. The kids also get a school bus right in front of their door - even though we are too close to the school for kids to use the bus.
During the summer their front lawn is covered with yard sale stuff every weekend. I mentioned to the same neighbor once “Where the H*&^ does all that stuff fit in their house!?” The neighbor replied “Oh - no. They scrounge all of the Goodwill drop boxes for the over-flow and steal it. They figure the stuff is dropped off for people that need help. They need help - so they grab it and sell it.”
The cops have been over there once-in-awhile, along with social services - so I figure me complaining about them probably being illegals is of no use.
I’m shocked to learn that Latino’s are now a third of the population of my hometown.
I can’t afford to live there anymore.
I wonder how they can?
when you’re working off the books, it’s amazing how much extra spending money you have...
Peachy.
Guess I’ll start stealing stuff from the drop boxes to pay off the vet bill.
Geeze.
An entire one-third of US welfare recipients reside in CA.

In doesn’t necessary mean they aren’t working. More likely cheating a system to accumulate more resources for a reasons I’ve written earlier.
I know a lot of Mexicans are hardworking, but most of the Mexicans I saw the last time my wife and I were in Las Vegas were the hundreds of them trying to slap porn in my hand as my wife and I walked down the strip. Even some of the older women were doing it.
Close to my home is a small town of Arcadia, Wisconsin. There are some chicken processing plants in the area, and a lot of Mexicans working in those plants. They now have specialty stores catering to the Mexican workers in Arcadia. If I lived around Arcadia, I might do the same.
> If I could avoid income, withholding and FICA taxes I too would have more money to spend.
True. Most that I know work in the construction trade or yard work and are paid cash. They don’t pay taxes as far as I know. And I know quite a bit of them. They are hard working people I will give them that but I don’t think many, if any of them pay taxes, and just about every Hispanic female I see in line that buys groceries uses an EBT card. It’s just the culture we live in at the moment. If they would pay in taxes it would probably makeup the shortfall the gov’t claims it needs (though we know it would only make them spend more; they’re never satisfied)
That sounds just like the Whitehut’s propoganda message about the life of “Julia”.
If I could avoid income, withholding and FICA taxes I too would have more money to spend.
Don’t forget that when they file with the IRS that many receive “refunds” much larger than their tax contributions.
I was at Autozone the other day and there were 5 Hispanic “shoppers”. One was shoplifting the very moment my attention was drawn to the one at the counter when the clerk said, “How are you today, wow, you are here several times every day”, and guy asked the clerk a question. The guy shoplifting disappeared from my view quickly but then I realized that there were 5 of them together as they all jumped into the old car out front. I told the clerk and he said I was mistaken. Oh well, I like O Rielly’s better anyway.
They typically have larger families so this is not surprising.
Of course they’re spending more. But it’s not their money. It’s our money, laundered through Washington. I’d spend more, too, if Uncle Sugar were giving it to me. Other People’s Money.
Nearly 60% of Mexican immigrants—legal and illegal—are on some form of welfare. That’s more than double the total non-Hispanic American rate.
