...YOUR DOG

We have a 3-month-old puppy.
I needed to read this.
We miss the old boy, a lot. But now, w/the new baby, we find ourselves remembering that our late 12 1/2-year-old was every bit as much a handful when he was young. So, we double down w/understanding The Kid, knowing he is going to grow up to be wonderful.
The old cat is not backing down at all. This was her home first and this is her 3rd dog, so she is fully in charge and just loves taunting him so he gets in trouble. Not being a total dummy, the pup is learning to ignore the cat....until she will deliberately run in front of him and, being a puppy, he chases her.
Both are very affectionate and the cat is still a great huntress at 14. She’s an inside/outside cat who still keeps the rodent population in check.
We’re tired. Might be the last young’un for us. Can’t imagine life w/o a dog, so if we are still alive and independent when he is gone, we will probably adopt an older rescue who lives life in the slow lane.
Years later a man started a fight in my LR. My 60lb dog hid under my bed.
It's true that cats can be more independent than dogs but I have some very needy cats. One in particular that cries if she doesn't know where I am.
8 weeks is way too young. Cats’ personalities don’t come out until 4-5 mos and range greatly from very affectionate to aloof and solitary. Persians as a whole are easygoing and tend to be in the middle but closer to the solitary side. They will play and socialize but will not necessarily seek out these interactions. Just like with people, it all depends on the individual cat - what it has inherited from its parents; from environmental influences, such as being taught by the mother, early experiences with humans etc.
#10. I was there for her in July, we faced the moment together as we had faced so many others together. She got over it, I still haven’t.
“, especially when the furball is driving me nuts!!”
My son has a blank copy of a euthanasia form he shakes at his cat when it crosses the line.
Thanks for sharing! Printed out a copy and posted it on our fridge. We’ve got 3 pound puppies (a lab mix, a hunting hound, and a dachsund-chihuahua). They’ve got such neat personalities and we love ‘em.
I complain about the lab mix shedding, but she is the sweetest and most loving animal. The hunting hound is loyal and obeys commands the best; the little one is a spoiled lap dog. Couldn’t imagine life without ‘em...

If it continues to happen, a trip to the vet may be in order. Older spayed females can develop this condition and it is controllable with medication.
Thank you. What an unexpected gift. I followed the link and read the story of Abbey and Mer. Whoa...beyond beautiful. Did not see that coming or think anything could hit me like that.
Thank you for the advice!
I find that yelling: “I’m gonna have you gassed!” works wonders are all my pets.
We have 4 kitties. Three of them are like velcro and have been since day 1. The other has always been fairly skittish and nervous, easily spooked by even a move or a cough. We never figured out why...his brother is fearless and outgoing, and the most intelligent cat we’ve ever owned.
Even the shy one has warmed up and figured out he LOVES attention, and will freely (if shyly) offer affection to “his humans”. All four of them have doglike behaviours like begging for attention, albeit in feline ways, rolling over and wiggling for tummy rubs, being close and into everything you’re in, even playing fetch.
About the only things in common with the stereotypical understanding of cats are the ones mandated by biology...
One of our min-pins did this so we took her to the vet.
As it turns out this is a early indicator of diabetes. She is on medication and doing fine.
Yup. Back to the vet for some tests.

You couldn't be more wrong. You apparently have never owned a cat.
Which is why I don’t understnd FR’s obsession with cats
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Get over it.
As you know everyone has an aperture that discharges waste and an opinion.
You are definitely ‘allowed’ an opinion, but so are we.
Cats are independent, proud AND self sufficient, only needing a ‘hands up’ from us - MY cats are very thankful and loyal.
Want to go on a trip for 3-4 days, put out a few bowls of dry food (one that he/she doesn’t really like), refill the wet food and water. The cat will pace itself and won’t starve as he/she will have the food they really don’t like as a backup.
Try that with a dog and all the food will be gone by the time you get out of the driveway.
All above traits NOT found in your typical Liberal.
You've never been around the right cats...
Cat's if raised with love, are every bit as loving as any dog.
