NBC is developing a drama series about George Washington, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography Washington: A Life. In that book, author Ron Chernow wrote that the countrys first president ranks as the most famously elusive figure in American history, a remote, enigmatic personage more revered than truly loved....
The network has ordered a script from David Seidler...
Theres George Washington the national icon, starting from the dollar bill with his supposed mouthful of wooden teeth, and then theres the George Washington who had an adulterous affair with his best friends wife. The George Washington obsessed with social status, finely tailored clothes, his image, Seidler said.

It was only a matter of time before you pieces of sh*t at NBC attacked one of the greatest men of all time.
The RevWar/Colonial History/General Washington ping list...
Its the seriousness of the charge!
“had an adulterous affair with his best friends wife.”
What a bunch of BS.
Why isn’t the wonderful (albeit still trying to push the Fairfax angle a bit) 1984 Barry Bostwick bio available even just to play on TV?
They don’t need another. They broke the mold putting Bostwick in there.
I’m sure they’ll have him abusing Billy Lee as well.
Yes...I saw that, and it was quite good. I thought “The Crossing” was even better (although it was just about Trenton).
It’s the best. “Washington” always means “Bostwick” to me now as surely as “Superman” means “Reeve”.
Nobody else did as great a job or looked so much like he might have looked.

Fiction. Just a cheap TV ripoff of “Abraham Lincoln the Vampire Hunter”.
You can bet that these yokels are just going to string together a number of rumors-slash-liberal ideas and call it history.
I really hate it when they use someone like George Washington as a prop.
I can’t wait for the NBC version to finally tell the truth about Washington. The history books cover up the fact that he was actually a black homosexual Marxist.
I really hope I don’t need the /s/ here.
IMHO, “The Crossing” was outstanding. Just found the DVD of it a couple of weeks ago at Sam’s Club.
What a beautiful painting!!!! Where did you find it?
Went to the DuPont home Wintertur in Delaware last month and it was full of the most beautiful American antiques including a set of George Washington’s china and many paintings of our founders. What a great country we were once upon a time.
Virtually no one at NBC is worthy of licking the bottom of George Washington’s boots. I’m getting rid of Comcast to get rid of NBC.
Right click on the picture; it will give you the option to copy the url. Not likely to see this scene on NBC.
This is pure bull. NBC just couldn’t possibly bring themselves to base a series on the best respected academic work on Washington: James Thomas Flexner’s “Washington, the Indispensable Man.”
Flexner shows him as a man that was respected and loved by all, despite human shortcomings that he readily admitted himself.
NBC would rather have a straw man that they could contrast against their man, Ubama.
