Mia Love was supposed to be the first black Republican woman in Congress.
The daughter of Haitian immigrants, Love was the mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, a recently-incorporated, fast-growing suburb of Salt Lake City.
She had a newly redrawn Congressional district that put six-term Congressman Jim Matheson, a Blue Dog Democrat and a member of a politically prominent Utah Mormon family, in a precarious position.
She had a big-time spot as a speaker at the Republican National Convention.
She had Republican All-Stars like Condoleeza Rice, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, and Mitt Romney raising money and programming robocalls for her.
And shed even been the star of one of those new Im a Mormon LDS Church public relations campaign videos.
The Salt Lake Tribunes pollsters gave Love a 12-point lead on November 2.
But against the odds, Jim Matheson held onto his seat, as Love failed to launch her Congressional career.

I think Mia suffered from a Mitt backlash.
If she runs next time, she will win.
Next time. With Sarah Palin. :D
message to Mia Love:
its O.K. Mia; we learn by our failures; and you will too; expect to see you in another campaign
“There was the Libertarian candidate who drew away 5,000 votestwice as many as Mathesons 2646-vote margin of victory.”
Duh!
Dream ticket:
Palin/Love
Mia dont run opposite a WHITE+ MORMON+ MALE from a Mormon royalty family next time...
FOUR strikes against you...
Mia Love is still young, she’ll be back. And yes, she would make a far better candidate to Congress than plenty of people nowadays would.
Real simple, as conservative as she was she was a black FEMALE, running against a prominent MALE “priesthood holder”. Both are LDS. All all things being equal, Mormons will vote for a male LDS over a female.
There are still a lot of LDS who hold pre-1978 views about blacks too.
Had the Dem been a ‘gentile’ (non-Mormon) she would have won.
Leading to the question: do you have a problem with whites, Mormons, or males?
If she runs next time, she will win.
Next time. With Sarah Palin. :D
You Betcha!
Bump!
She looks wonderful
classy lady...
Tell her to come to TN...
:D
Go Sarah!
Go Mia!
Conservative women certainly have a “glow’, don’t they?
Librel womyn have down-deep “nasty” they just can’t hide.
You bet they do, they absoutly melt me.
Very true. I think it is because conservative women have a positive outlook, while liberal/socialist/democrat women (take your pick) have a very negative outlook. That translates into their outward appearance, manner, etc. Hey, as conservatives we know there are things wrong here, but we also know we can fix them. That’s a positive attitude, and it shows.
Nothing says “Dem win” like a Clintonian plurality....
Not to be dismissive about the whole thing, but Mrs. Love is quite attractive. This is a trend for Conservative women.
liberal womyn get made ugly by their hate — even the ones that started out attractive.
Conservative women reject hate (as do all Conservatives) — thus they retain their beauty.
GMTA! :)
In accordance with democrat talking points about those who oppose theOne, it needs to be said that those who voted against Love (and West) were doing so as racists.
