Now that the election has been completed, I know that I need to relocate. I am recently retired and I will sell my townhouse and move from Northern VA. But I haven’t yet narrowed the field of possible locations very much. GF and I have been entertaining the idea of purchasing a piece of rural property and constructing our own house. But we really want to be among conservative-minded folks.
We have been actively reading this site for a long time and always appreciate the opinions of those involved.
I would like to have as many opinions and suggestions about where we should begin our search for a new locale, as well as ideas on what other factors should be considered.
The western part of VA, TN, TX, PA, even NH seem attractive from a CoL perspective, as well as seasonal change and the prospect of lower taxes. (I have lived in western PA, AL, FL, NC, CA, and VA.)
Come to South Alabama.

Good luck on your hunt. There are many nice places to pick from. I like Western NC, Tennessee area, away from the cities. One drawback is I am a Yankee, and the Civil War isn't over.
East TN is more friendly to GOP types than West TN. Lots of chances for outdoor activities as well on the lakes and in the mountains.

Anyway, I'd love to move to Texas. If it weren't for close family, I'd be gone! From what I hear, it's kinda warm down there, but in my opinion being there would be worth it. They'll guard their boarders well. You'll be safe in Texas.
Depends on what you like for weather and culture I would say. Arizona and Texas are both nice and largely conservative (with the occasional pocket of libtard) but the summers get kinda tiring. I have had to work a few times on contracts in AL and TN and liked both places. Your neighbors to the west, WV, seem to be getting more and more conservative as well. I just can’t hack the humidity like I could as a kid, so I live in AZ and suffer through the (dry) summer heat.
Come to Texas.
If you like the beach, Galveston and the Gulf coast between there and Corpus are nice. If you want trees, Longview and Tyler and points south until you get to just north of Houston would be good. If you like hills, Fredricksberg and other town in the hill country would be your place.
No state income taxes and the friendliest people in the country. A lot gun owners and decent Christian people.

Go to Texas. Besides, everything is bigger in Texas - or so I hear.
How would they do that? Obama would be the new Lincoln and send in the Armed Forces.
Georgia is fairly warm and solidly Conservative once you get out of Atlanta. It’s also a buyer’s market for homes and property. The county I live in has a Congressman who was backed by the Tea Party and voted over 90% for GOP candidates. We’re less than an hour from the busiest airport in the world so it’s easy to get somewhere else. We’re also close to the mountains and the biggest lake the state. Georgia gets tornadoes but it hasn’t been hit by a hurricane in over 100 years.
Missouri has the Hancock amendment. No new taxes unless the citizens vote for it. Republican control of the legislature. Fiscally responsible - still AAA rated bonds.
Pensions have some exclusions from individual income taxes, which is helpful for retired people who can no longer work and may not get a cola increase.
Lots of bitter clingers to guns, hunting and fishing opportunities are abundant. Great farm country.
I hear the Chadwick area is still pretty isolated and very small town. It didn't used to have zoning laws either. Don't know much about that now.
I love the area and would gladly move back there. However, my kids are anchored to the S. East side of the state, so we stay to be close to the grand kids.
Oklahoma has the distinction of being the only state for which Obama never won a county in any election. Pretty much everyone goes to church and a 4% unemployment rate in the Tulsa area. kinda like the US in the 1950’s.
Mark TX off your lists. It’s not what is was just a few years ago. Too many pushy libs have moved in and are taking over.
My county in Florida, (Walton) went almost 4-1 for Romney.
No state income tax, no sales tax on groceries or medicine. Some of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
I think even the people on welfare voted Republican.
Election night, I looked at the politico.com map, in search of the most republican voting state. At that time of night on Tuesday it was UTAH, with about 80 percent repub vote totals. If I could move out of the liberal hellhole of WI,I would. I am in Dane County. Yes, home to Madistan. I love our Governor, my senator Ron Johnson and of course Paul Ryan. Other than that,,,,not much to endear me to WI.
But you still can’t get a decent slice of pizza.
