USGS reporting a 6.3 off of Vancouver Island, Canada at 6:01 Pacific Standard Time
any tsunami warning?
Might have been an aftershock from the 7.7 they had last week. Just today there was a 7.4 in Guatemala.

Nah... way to small.
I’m about 250 miles from there, didn’t feel a thing.
That’s why it caught my eye. Actually, looking at the map, it’s about 500 miles from me.
Been a long time since I went to Vancouver Island... beautiful place, buy hey, they’re Canadians... eh?
Maybe I should head up there again. Them Canadian gals have always been very, very, very nice to me!
KnowhutImean??
;-)
There was a major one in Guatemala in the morning and now this. Damn.
Almost like a game of geological ping pong.

nah.
Global warming.
or, Mother Nature rejoicing at zero's re-election. Ask Matthews about this.
Might be overdue, but we’re not seeing enough activity at the plate boundary to get excited.
If you watch the time-dependent map of the quakes in Japan up to and after the big one, there is a constant stream of 3s, 4s, 5s, and 6s, in a linearly increasing fashion, up to BAM!!! 9.1 hits.
The same patterns were seen in Chile prior to the 1960 9.5 quake there.
In fact I’m expecting the next big one to be Chile/Nazca plate or the NE Australian/New Zealand region.
NE Australia and the Coral Sea region is seeing ALOT of activity right now! And we have seen a number of events in the northern hemisphere and not much south-ways, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see one down there.
me too
I’m in the Ottawa Valley, and there is a fault line here. Usually we get one 3+ quake every 10 years or so. Two years ago we had a 5, Since Sept 1 this year we have had 2 3’s and a 4.
Yeah, I know that is small potatoes as far as quakes go, but it’s a trend all the same.
I do know what ya mean!
Oh wow, thanks for the link! I had not seen that .... don’t think I’d want to be living in Japan.
We had a ‘small’ (5.1 or so) earthquake just up the road (50 miles) last year that at the epicenter knocked some houses off the foundations, knocked chimneys down, damaged/closed schools. I had to grap the china cabinet doors to keep plates from spilling out, made pictures crooked & lost some small glass pieces falling off of things. That was plenty enough for us!
Would it be completely out of line to hope for another big temblor to hit around the San Fransicko area to cleanse us of some of the patchouli hippies and rectal pirates and other leftist freaks?
Just asking. If anyone’s offended, allow me to pre-apoligize.
