That’s assuming your employer will pay you the increased salary to make up for the hyperinflation...the government is more apt to take your money and issue currency at half value or more as opposed to issuing new currency at 10 times its value. It would all be done electronically anyway.
Alabama is pretty nice. The cost of living is low and we just re-elected Roy Moore as Chief Justice. It is going to be interesting to see what Roy comes up with to rattle the left this time.
What kind of background in IT do you have? Are you a CCNA, A+, Security +, CCNP - what? If your background is strong enough, there are a few areas in Texas you might investigate further.
Texas might be good, but my advice is to learn espanol. 0bama will throw open the borders (more than they are now!) and Texas will become Northern Mexico.

I’ve been in Texas since 1985. Many lifelong Texas friends have or are moving to Oklahoma. Texas is turning Blue. May be time to head a little further North. We’re thinking about northern Arizona.
Actually, if we could just give Philadelphia to NJ, PA might be red.
It has changed a bit since 1894, at least the economy. We have been pretty recession-proof this go-round. Unemployment around 4% or lower no matter what the national has been.
This time Oklahoma was joined by Utah and.....West Virginia! }:^0
I’m a year younger and originally from Western NY, my employer gave me an opportunity to move to TX 2 years ago for... drum roll... a job opportunity. I reside in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. Worked out well since I always wanted to move someplace warmer before I retire and I had admired this red State from 1500 miles away for quite some time.
Here’s what I find:
1. There are lots of jobs, and lots of competition for them in a major metro. I’d say this is good - better to live somewhere with more opportunities than less.
2. No State income tax. Instant raise.
3. Property taxes are lower... however, your home owner policy could cost more due to periodic storm damage. Mine increased about $500 due to the prior year’s storms. Which compares to a policy that in total cost less than $600 back in NY.
4. You can buy a lot more house for the money. It will be brick, newer, and likely be .25 acre or less. There will not be a basement so sell that record collection.
5. Cost of living - net neutral. Example: gasoline costs a little less, but electricity seems to cost more. Water bill is much higher. Food seems to cost a bit more, but that’s likely tied to other factors.
6. Don’t move your snow blower. If you do, confused people will look at it and wonder if it some kind of walk along combine. It’s moderate in the short winter (sky will actually be blue vs. months of gray). Summer is intensely hot. Get a pool and think of TX August as PA February (i.e. you might want to stay inside). Budget for higher utility bills in the Summer vs. Winter (electricity and water for the yard).
7. Schools are good to very good. As with most places, depends on where you live. Measurements of school and school district performance is available online. As always, how involved a parent is makes a difference.
8. You will not have to habla Espanol, but will have to learn proper y’all, dudn’t, etc. or they will think you’re from a foreign country. Like Oklahoma. Assimilate.
9. 2nd Ammendment is alive and well. It makes for a safer society. I’d imagine a criminal would think a little more about their career choice knowing there’s a greater likelihood of being ventilated by a gun owning homeowner.
10. Barbeque.
11. People here are awesome - friendly, respectful, and neighborly. People here are also proud to live here (think about that), kids are taught about their State history in school, folks here understand the fact that TX is the center of the universe.
12. Churches here rock - more outgoing, involved, and welcoming.
13. Fried Chicken. Various deep fried experimentation at the State Fair.
14. Lots to see and do here in DFW, across the State, and neighboring foreign States.
15. Shiner Beer. Garrison Brothers Bourbon.
The move has been good for my family, we miss family back home and some other things but moving here is an improvement in quality of life and perhaps more ‘future-proofing’ of our ability to earn a living.

Move from your blue state to a Battleground state — I give this advice to every hardcore Bluestater who is Red in his heart. We here in Virginia would love to give you our Southern hospitality. You might not experience this in nasty Northern Virginia. But you can know the rest of us in the state have our hearts with you. We could turn the tide our way with help from those like you. This would work with any other battleground state. Virginia is a wonderful place that is polluted with all this nasty Northern and Liberal poison. Come help us. Or help Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania, etc. But I really think Virginia is the best state to start with. We do not have far to go to regain the power of our beliefs.

I just also noticed that Utah and West Virginia joined Oklahoma this time around in going solid “Red”.
I think there must be a small blue zone in Utah around Salt Lake as Mia Love lost there.
I would suggest Oklahoma over Texas .
Or Georgia or S Carolina or N Alabama over Texas .
The demographic tidal wave there will erupt in out lifetime .
Okla city or Tulsa are very nice
