...
It's known as the "Redskins Rule."
In the team's 75 years in the nation's capital, covering 18 presidential elections, the Redskins' final home game prior to Election Day has correctly predicted the election's outcome in 17 of the 18 elections.
A Redskins loss in that final home game before the election has meant a victory for the challenging party.

Redskins are losing 14-6 to a team they are suppose to handily beat. Not that I believe this rubbish, but it would be fun if they lost.

I’m a big Redskins fan, but if it’d help get Obama out of the White Hut, I’ll root against them, no problem.

21-6 Carolina, 12:46 left in the 4th quarter. (Might be behind, have it on Gamecast on the computer)

I saw a thread a while back that showed where since 1845 when the present 1st Tuesday in Nov. election day was set, the Election has occurred on Nov. 6th six times, and each time the Republican has won. Meaningless, of course, but a fun stat.

BTW, there is a revised Redskins Rule:
If the Redskins lose their last home game before the election, the party that won the previous popular vote will lose the current election.
If the modified rule is used, then it's 18/18 even though Bush was the incumbent in 2004, because Gore won the popular vote in 2000.
And hey, even 17/18 is a hell of a lot better track record than the pollsters, and involves just as logic as they apparently use :)

Only problem is the last time this predictor was wrong was 2004 an election year looking remarkably similar to this one.

Hmm, considering they’re playing the Panthers and I live just outside Charlotte, that’s a double whammy.

Da Bears! Hosted a kegger for the when the Bears won the Superbowl at my house in Chicago. The Frig attempting to throw the ball and running it in caused a lot of pandemonium.

I already traded God a 3-13 Jets season for a Romney win. The Jets will not win another game.

Panthers fan since ‘95 here. Carolina can lead by 28 points with under 2 minutes to play and still give a game away. Don’t count out the Skins yet.

Everyone else picked the Redskins to beat Carolina, but I picked the Panthers by 13 points in the
FreeRepublic Pro Football Pick'Em on Yahoo! Sports.
I did it precisely because of this silly 'Redskin Rule'.
Superstition is nonsense -- er, knock on wood -- but I'll take the 'Redskin Rule' win anyway.
