Northeast FReepers who were affected by Sandy, please check in here when/if you have power to let us know your status. Tell us what, if anything, you need so we can organize help or get help to you. If you can, share your story with us. Tell us how you weathered the storm, what the condition is of your house or property, loved ones, pets, neighbors, etc.
You're in our thoughts and prayers. If we can help in any way, let us know!
Montgomery County, Maryland did fairly well. No power loss.. just a ton of rain. My littlest one was petrified so she slept with me downstairs. She seemed comforted by that (she was afraid the neighbors tree would slam into the house). We have kin in Garrett County, Md (Deep Creek Lake). They aren’t doing well at all. Over three feet of wet snow and no power (the power is estimated to be out a week). Thank goodness that part of the family lives within shouting distance. Everyone’s moved into my cousins house (he has a generator). Prayers for all those freepers who aren’t doing well.. my thoughts and best wishes are with you. Hugs, Mom

A shout to Miss Didi! She was staying in Manhatten.
The trouble is the lack of electricity to pump the gas at most stations, not the fact that the stations don't have gas to sell, but maybe contacting them will still help. Thanks for your involvement.
Couldn’t someone get the gas stations generators?
okay in Naugatuck, Ct.
Thanks for the clarification. I’ll ask them to send a generator w/ their tankers. (It can’t hurt to ask, right?) I’ll also put out the word on Twitter that we need generators for the gas stations.
Neighbor called me at work, the power’s back on. Wasn’t really expecting to get it back until the weekend, so that’s gravy. Still probably about 200,000 outages left for PECO.
>> “Very difficult to find an open gas station without hundreds of cars lined up.” <<
.
And probably similar conditions at grocery, and hardware stores.
Time for everyone here to wake up and quit the sarcastic remarks about “preppers.”
We need more.
Wilmington, Delaware here.
We are the lucky ones, no power outage (flickering often, but not outright out), also house in high ground, no flooding. Still QUITE a lot of clean up to do here.
Prayers and thoughts to other Northeast FReepers.
Thanks all, all good here
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are effected by Sandy.
What I don't understand though is every one knew this was coming days in advance. Why didn't they gas up before hand?
pandy is fine. The storm didn’t do much damage to her place at all. Lost cell service and internet for a while. No one can go to work while things get cleaned up, which is never a good thing, but otherwise doing well. Lots less damage than the storm last spring. Which the state of NJ still hadn’t really gotten cleaned up yet.
Instead of sitting there being bored, why don't you go out and see who you can help out?
I recently heard a report that if your power is off more than 24 hours you should throw you freezer stuff away.
I think you meant to post that to lowbridge, but I would prefer you didn’t. Maybe (s)he’s not in a position physically or financially to help.
Right on with unexpected power restoration!
No serious Sandy damage from where I live in Framingham, Massachusetts. Some trees down, but not on houses. Some brief power outages, every now and then, but nothing serious. That’s it. It’s areas of Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey that need the most help and prayers.
