The guy said it was the worst between 3-5 this afternoon and many neighbors have stayed, using flashlights to signal each other that they're ok. He did say it was the worst storm he's been through on the Jersey Coast in 40 years.

Is the fact the storm sped up the saving grace? Seems to me it moved faster towards the shore than predicted, as bad as it is, it would have been much worse if it came in slower.

FNC has been wall-to-wall Sandy coverage. Not at all trying to sound callous here, but if this was in FL or MS, you wouldn’t be seeing that, IMHO. It’s because this storm hit YankeeLand, their own backyard, that it garners so much air time on FNC. I find that disappointing. People in the south (I’m in NC) put up with this all the time.

I guess what they say about NY journalists truly believing that they are the center of the universe is true.

his gun won’t do him much good if the storm washes his house away...he’s lived on the Jersey coast only 40 years but my cousin lost her house along the shore in a storm in the late 50’s or early 60’s (not Hazel, after that hurricane)...luckily she wasn’t there,,,
