A Belgian made Browning superposed, field grade, in 12 ga. I inherited it from my father. It’s in better shape than the one pictured actually. Wish I had time to go out and break some clays.

Did he invent the over under?

No question about his genius.

Thanks, I didn’t know that. It’s hard to imagine what firearms would be like today without his contributions.

A fascinating thread on a 1933 Superposed that turned out to be a lot more than originally thought. Great read for Superposed fans.

Feh, I limited out on South Dakota pheasants this afternoon with a Mossberg 835. What do you need an expensive shotgun for?

Its a shotgun for crissakes. All you need is a hollow tube and a firing pin...

Because it pleases me, but yes it is just a shotgun.

Not quite. However, some of the design work of his father, Jonathan Browning, certainly improved the boxlock double-barreled shotgun, then a percussion ignition design, as well as introducing some of the first repeating rifle, pistol and shotgun designs.

Genius ran in that family.

Indeed, at the Anderson, Indiana plant.

They built something else there, a smoothbore like the shotguns under discussion here, though hardly in the same class. But they certainly had their uses, and were quite affordable.

Oh, just for fun:
