Never been fired. I am 44 and will be 45 in 2 months.

I have a disability and I have never, ever slacked off from work a day in my life.

I'm frustrated and angry and embarrassed as hell.

You have a disability? Definitely get a lawyer.

If you have a disability, that opens another large set of issues.

Hire an attorney. It will save you a lot of grief later on.

Keep replying. Every time you reply, you add a whole new dimension to the problem.

You’re disabled? Whoa Nelly. Each state has hundreds of laws protecting disabled Americans. Look into ‘em.

On a side note, I do wonder what your Employers was paying in health premiums to keep you around. And what with new health insurance renewal contracts on the table for most employers, I bet THAT was a factor in letting you go.

They can’t afford you, man.

(Sorry. I don’t mean to be harsh.)

It's probably not you at all. It sounds like politics/obamacare stuff. Companies are getting hit with that come Jan 2013. But they certainly couldn't tell you that.

Best of luck to you.

Don't be! It's the way of the world these days. Keep your head up. Things will change and everything will work out.

I agree with everyone else. Do not sign anything without having a lawyer look at it! Do not allow them to force your hand. They do not want to pay the unemployment, that's why they're most likely making you the offer.

Stay positive, I believe things are going to turn around after this election.

Don’t be embarrassed. A LOT of us have been there. Well, okay, it was a little embarrassing at first, but it helped that our entire building was laid off.

I am now an official statistic, if that helps (probably not)....under employed. It was either everyone took an hours hit or someone would have to go.

Went from full time to not so full time. 3-4 hours a week makes a huge difference. We’re still hanging on by a thread.

” I’m frustrated and angry and embarrassed as hell. “

Dont be. The statistic of 23 million that Romney cites.
It’s real. Millions of Americans are in this situation. Most are not slackers.

Millions of people get fired or laid off for all sorts of reasons. Met a guy today who trying to get work and he’s got a parttime security guard job, not his real career.he tells me if he doesnt get ‘real work’ in next few months he’s out on the street after Christmas.

Many of us have gone through what you are going through. Don’t feel ashamed or alone; you are not.

if you are 44 with a disability and worked as hard as you say then there is something else going on here

see a lawyer- they could be violating ADA (as shitty as that legislation is, it would actually benefit someone like you with an ACTUAL disability)

It could be something as simple as a sleazy business owner wants to give the job to someone else in his family and doesn't have the guts to tell you- but he is SLEAZY for calling it ‘performance’ problems if that is the case (which could haunt you forever)
