What is everyone hearing around the office regarding the election? I mean, particularly among liberals and independents. We all obviously know what conservatives are saying.
At my office, I've noticed the liberals are very quiet (except when whispering among themselves), and the independents hate Obama.
You’re right. We need to get a Republican in just to avoid another Kagan and Sontemayor.
Virgil Goode of the constitution party. The only prolife, pro traditional marriage candidate on the ballot here in Texas.
There is a difference between hope delayed and hope denied. :)
What I do know is as long as America is rolling 1 million children a year into the abortion clinics, that God is going to punish America. So that is what I pray for that he stays his hand and gives America the chance to repent.
Which is doubtless why you tried to foist your LaRaza governor (Mr. "oops") at just the right time to keep opposition from Romney from coalescing around either Palin or Gingrich...
Cheers!
Roberts. Nominated by Bush, a Texan, right?
Cheers!
Imagine the pain of seeing your “first” being so destructive. Blacks could have had lasting pride and a role model but instead they have this charlatan and failure.
She just walked away and said we weren’t going to change her mind.
“Not sure I can convince her, but at least she is willing to listen. So, stay tuned....”
What a rare and remarkable opportunity for you! Very unusual to find someone who wants to listen and learn. I hope you can be a good teacher. Engage, ask questions, listen, answer questions, teach.
Libs are noticably quiet.
I am retired, but my boxer and my chocolate lab say that they are voting for Romney.
I would assume the young man is living in his car or under a bridge, since any son of mine campaigning for O would be cut off faster than Candy Crowley at Golden Corral.
This is a delicate topic at work, and I’ve got my self into a fix over it. I’m certainly bright enough not to make rabid statements or whatnot, but I do answer when asked an opinion. It’s based on those occasional lunchroom answers that the entire team knows I’m conservative and I’m able to explain why in simple, but informed (thanks FR!)terms
Our office is conservative, in general. 1. AA B.O. quasi supporter, 1 undecided who is baffled as to why he knows so many apparently intelligent folks that he is close to support B.O., 1 unknown, and 5 conservative to right leaning, inlcuding me and a Jewish woman (she voted O last time and is disgusted)
Knowing what I know about office politics and the potential for a hostile environment for the AA member, I am very gentle about my thoughts on the issues, stating only facts and never opinion an then only when asked. I encourage others to keep the harsher comments out of the discussion, knowing that they outcome could be bad for everyone. I can’t stand it when they refer to B.O. as a dumbass, etc. It doesn’t move the ball forward and it could offend others, creating a hostile environment where we all end up unemployed.
Lately, I have minimized the topic of politics altogether, except when my own boss is asking, which he did today. He likes to ask “Give me your elevator explaination of why Romney should get my vote, etc. Today, he asked about the debate.
The AA member of the team is potentially a conservative, based on her outspoken opinions, but she’s “obligated” to support B.O, for lack of a better term. I don’t push anything on her, and I try to play it down the middle when she brings it up: “both had good points”, Obama did better this time”, etc.
In short, it doesn’t matter, at this point, even if I back away completely. In fact, if I did so, I think it would trigger suspicion to the fact that we all should stay out of it for the sake of harmony. The damage is done and I am now too widely known to deny my leanings. I’m just trying to keep those conversations short and respectful. I’m looking forward to the election, and then I’ll begin weaning people off from asking my opinion.
The office is really no place for politics.
Perhaps “Laughing Jackel Joe” could be named our nation’s Jester Czar under a new administration.
I’m going to take to my sick bed when Joe leaves office. Where else will we get a VP that walks into Congress and says “Give me a f%$#ing break” when someone asks him why he is late.
In 2008, everyone here was excited about Obama. Now, people seem to be voting against the incumbent, even if they are voting for Obama. There is a lot of logical disconnect.
Just got back from walking the dog....our lesbian lawyer neighbor has a Romney sign in her yard!
