For about 25 years the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese has batted at the #4 slot on McDonald's menu. My boy and I hit the drive through tonight because Mom wasn't in the car..... we were both ready for two Super Size #4's and then my world had changed. The Double QP was in the #3 slot! When and why did this happen? You Nannies and Busybodies with dietary suggestions can move on. This chat is for people who like to eat where, what and when they want who are well schooled in the menu of a great American institution.
Yep, the Double QP is good..but my favorite will always be a Royal Robin at Red Robin. I’ve had Five Guys, and they’re decent. I have yet to have anything from In-N-Out, and I can’t really think of anything else hamburger-wise that I think I NEED to try before I pass on.
Don’t recall exactly when, but I think it got moved up in line when the two-regular-cheeseburger meal got replaced by regular cheeseburgers moving to the dollar menu. Made room for some of those Angus burger meals too, IINM.
Good choice!! The D QP has always been #3 on the menus at my local McDs...The 2 cheeseburgers value meal has been at #4 (#1 is the big mac and #2 is the quarter pounder). But the good news, at least the government hasn’t found a way to outlaw the quarter pounder (yet)!
#3 is still a single 1/4 pounder here. Just had one last night.
I wish they where the same # nation wide. Gets confusing.
Usually in the time it takes to get from the ordering to picking up my order I’ve forgotten what I ordered. I have to look at the receipt to jog my memory.
But every fast food place has crappy fries now that they cut back on the salt.
McDonald’s sucks.... Plain and simple and there it is without any apologies. Anyone who thinks McDonald’s is good food just hasn’t ever had a good burger.
Jules: Well, if you like burgers give ‘em a try sometime. I can’t usually get ‘em myself because my girlfriend’s a vegitarian which pretty much makes me a vegitarian. But I do love the taste of a good burger. Mm-mm-mm. You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?
Brett: No.
Jules: Tell ‘em, Vincent.
Vincent: A Royale with cheese.
Jules: A Royale with cheese! You know why they call it that?
Brett: Because of the metric system?
Jules: Check out the big brain on Brett!
In-N-Out Double Double with Cheese spoiled it for any other burger as my favorite. Unfortunately, I moved back to the midwest where there is no franchise. I am sad. So so sad.
I prefer the BKing double whoppers. Just seems like a better quality and more complete sandwich (personal opinion), and doesn’t make me sick an hour later (stomach’s opinion).
I’m still miffed they took the quarter pounder without cheese off the menu. Doesn’t stop me from ordering it though.
Since you never eat the food, how would you even know?
You need to try the Hardee's Monster Thickburger. It's a heart attack waiting to happen, but it's amazing.
One of the reasons I know how much McDonald’s sucks is because I know how to make GREAT burgers at home.
Honest to God I’ve had better burgers off of lunch-trucks than McDonald’s serves.
At one McDs, whenever I order a QP Hamburger w/o the cheese, I still get charged for the cheese anyway. At another McDs, they do not charge me for the removed cheese. 40 cents difference plus tax, for the same sandwich.
When they moved the chicken nuggets from #6 and I kept getting confused I stopped.ordering.
Now I order the $1 chicken sandwich or the mushroom angus burger.
Michelle Obama and Mayor Bloomberg are going to have coronaries over this.
