Anyone that wouldn’t help the neighbors is headed for total defeat.

If anything comes down, it will be the “government” in some manifestation or another that we will have to defend against, and neighborhoods will have to work together to survive.

Too many think in terms of what it was like in the Balkans in the ‘90s, but that is not a realistic view of where we’d be. The US is the most heavily armed nation on Earth, while the Slavs had little personal armament, and were easily dominated.

I’ve not gotten as far as I should. I’ve read the advice on stock what you eat, and eat what you stock. Problem I have is I eat little to nothing from metal cans and boxes. I’ve got some jars to look to canning some stuff up. Either vacuum seal or pressure can. Are my options limited more to relying on freezing and canning? Thanks.

Take care of your feet and your teeth!

My feet, I know where they are.

My teef? No telling. Probably in a jacket pocket somewhere.

Marcella, perhaps you could chime in on post #20, I think you have a birthday soon (as in a few hours).

My grandkids will do better with me around than without me. I'm the one with the skill-sets and explanations, even if I can't do all the heavy lifting stuff that young punks can do.

Knowledge is the key to getting/growing food.

Yes, aspirin also leaves you prone to bleeding from the slightest wound.

While the clove oil is helpful for the pain, one would be wise to invest in a $25 “Hulda Clark” zapper and some 9v batteries. The zapper will eliminate the abcess itself in short order by holding one electrode in the hand, and the other against the gum in the area of the pain. The 30 KC pulsing DC current will kill all of the bacteria in the tooth and buckle area after a few 10 minute sessions.

>> “ I read a comment from someone that said old people should save the food for the younger people.” <<

.
That comment was obviously written by a member of the Death Culture. Stupid! All people are of value, and all should be cared for.

Another good trick for your feet, rather than relying on Tolaftnate, which will eventually become ineffective if hygene is difficult, use Vick’s vaporub or the generic equivalent two or three times per week between the toes and on the bottoms of the feet.

If the power goes down, the freezer becomes a junk bin within two days.

Funny I was always a fighter and never cared what other people thought but when I saw that comment it made me question whether I was being selfish. See I had my cans of tuna, chili, and red beans stashed away already. Thanks, I feel better.

Don’t see that as a negative for aspirin. In the absence of Warfarin or Coumadin(*), blood clots can be deadly.

Importantly, neither they nor aspirin dissolve clots much. That is usually left to natural processes. Their purpose is to prevent the clots from getting larger, or new clots from forming.

(*) These drugs are extremely dangerous and should only be used with frequent (weekly) blood test monitoring. Formerly they were used as a highly deadly rat poison.

Home Depot has these on sale:

$2.78 for the bucket, $1.28 for the lid.

Not specifically labeled or graded "food grade", but advertised as all purpose, bottom indicates HDPE composition which is quite safe for food.

Problem is, they had a ton of buckets, but I could only find 2 lids!

Wow! I didn't know about that. I'll look into it.

I brought up Oil of Cloves because it is a temporary relief. I didn't mean to imply it as a permanent solution. Also aspirin which is an old time remedy for a tooth ache will dissolve the enamel when applied directly.

If someone is using it for blood pressure, by all means, just swallow it.

BTW, I've extracted two of my own teeth. The ligament loosening is the most painful part.
Backpacking the Appalachian Trail, twice. Did that with my Swiss Army knife.

Re 5 gal buckets: Firehouse Subs sells the five gallon buckets they get pickles in. $2. Goes to charity. Food grade plastic. Nice fitted lids. Fantastic deal. Wash well to remove pickle smell.

I’ve mounted two Doulton 10” Super Sterasyl ceramic gravity filter candles in one of these and let the water drain into another one. Works well. Ran rain water from the roof through it and had the water tested before and after. After was A-ok.

"...do you feel that after a person reaches a certain age that it is somewhat futile to be a prepper. I read a comment from someone that said old people should save the food for the younger people."

Welll, I'll be 80 in three hours and 5 minutes.

My rocket stove came today and my tactical vest came today.

I plan to run for Miss America when I'm 95.

If I didn't prepare, two members of my family would die in a long term emergency.

I've written maybe 40-60 articles on Survival Podcast website and as of now, 16,782 people have read those articles and used them to help them prepare.

I vote that I don't die from no water and food - I'm too important.

Besides, the US thinks Hussein is so important, they have a bunker prepared for him and his family with gobs of water and food - I'm certainly as important as that Islamic radical.

Screw dying, I'm too busy saving lives.

I think Wally World has clothes pins. Plastic or wood or both.

I never could figure out why they would make them out of plastic, most plastics degrade fairly quickly in sunlight.

LOL! I figured you would have some pithy input. ;)

Happy B-Day tomorrow, BTW. You will only be 2.524556e+9 seconds old in a few hours.

I agree with you. You are a resource. Besides, you can't eat that much... ;)
