Preppers' Thread to post progress, good buys, DIY projects, advice and ideas ...
Honeyville Grain 10% off sale starts Monday (10/8) and ends Friday (10/12) CODE is: 1492.
If you remember I started last week thread talking about how I finished up getting some dental work done. Well if you don’t think it is an important prep read this! Not for the squeamish!
Doom and Blooms How to Extract a Tooth

Bump.
We’ve hit prepping with a lick and a promise. Doing the best we can.
We are canning more and freezing less. A well-stocked fruit cellar is a stress-reducing joy indeed.
The DAk hams sound too good to be true with current meat prices.
Yeah. Dental work. We try to keep it caught up. Moan, groan; sorry, my attitude right now is grumpy. I’m old and tired . . I’ll do a smiley face, but it’s not sincere. :o) (Fake smiley face.)
Have you ever tried Survival Cave meats (http://www.survivalcave.com/Canned-beef-food-storage-by-Survival-Cave-Food-p/6scfbf.htm)? I’d be interested in your comments on them.
How embarrassing to do all the stuff I have to prep and die from an abscessed tooth.
Foot powder, extra heavy duty well fitting shoes and comfortable socks are also things that are necessities in my book.
Take care of your feet and your teeth!
Funny, I just stocked hygene stuff too. It’s sharing a spot with the stockpile of 5.56x45 and 5.45x39 in my closet.
I experimented using a built-in cooler on my boat as a vat to salt down meat. It’s been successful, but 2 months is the longest I’ve kept meat under brine before using it. It’s supposed to be effective for much longer.

I have tasted the Yoders’ meats they sale found them to be good. You might try and compare price against MRE Depot.
Quaker Oats on sale locally, picked up 10 1.2 lbs. 8 bucks.
Need to hit Home Depot and see what their buckets look like, gal just confirmed on the phone they sell them, but wasn’t sure about the ratings...

I know myself too well and even in a survival situation if I open a 28 oz tin of beef it will be gone by morning so rather than spend some $90 on 6 cans I would spend the same money for 90 cans of the above which would be much more likely to go for 90 meals. It is actually tasty as hot open sandwich or with rice. I know I can eat 28 oz can because I have scarfed the 24 oz Govn’t cans more than once

.
Don’t forget baking soda, that’s what takes care of your teeth and mouth.

Don't use aspirin on the tooth. Aspirin dissolves the tooth.
Just would like to know what is the average age of people you know who are preppers and do you feel that after a person reaches a certain age that it is somewhat futile to be a prepper. I read a comment from someone that said old people should save the food for the younger people.
