It is a powerful verse, ML and Meg. It doesn't say guess, nor does it say hope. It doesn't say wish, or imagine..........it says
KNOW that I am God
And, I am so thankful that He IS!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
AMEN~~~~
NYC must be like a ghost town with everything shut down. I see the early voting is cancelled for tomorrow in MD.
Are you working tomorrow? :)
For some unknown reason, I had a terrible time getting to FR. Still can't get to the Canteen so guess I'll not be visiting with anyone. *sigh*
Hope any impact you get, if you get, will be very minor. Have a great Monday!
Much to my chagrin, I am not working tomorrow. Got an email a little while ago.
Totally ridiculous IMHO! We're not in the Coastal Plain and there's no chance that this storm, however bad it may be, will affect our office.
GRRRR!!!!
Thanks, Meg! She is a hand-full and a half! She keeps me running all day long.
I keep her in the kitchen behind closed doors - (in case she has an accident), and when she has to potty - she barks.
Well, today, she ‘realized’ that when she barks - the door opens! So she would bark, I would go to get her and take her outside, and she would high-tail it into the house! Like a jet! I couldn’t catch her, and she is a GOOD escape artist!
This went on all day. I am exhausted from chasing her!
Making A Difference
October 29, 2012
Elizabeths story was moving, to say the least. Following a terribly humiliating experience in Massachusetts, she caught a bus to New Jersey to escape her embarrassment. Weeping uncontrollably, she hardly noticed that the bus had made a stop along the way. A passenger sitting behind her, a total stranger, began making his way off the bus when he suddenly stopped, turned, and walked back to Elizabeth. He saw her tears and handed her his Bible, saying that he thought she might need it. He was right. But not only did she need the Bible, she needed the Christ it speaks of. Elizabeth received Him as a result of this simple act of compassion by a stranger who gave a gift.
Jesus is our example of compassion. In Matthew 9, we read, When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd (v.36). Not only did our Lord notice the pain and hurt of broken people, He responded to it by challenging His followers to pray for the Father to send out workers to respond to the hurts and needs of this dying world (v.38).
As we follow Christs example, a heart of compassion for shepherdless people can compel us to make a difference in the lives of others.
Father, open my eyes to see the hurts and
struggles of others. Then open my heart to respond to
them, so that through me they may see You and
Your love. Amen.
A world in despair needs Christians who care.
GOOD MILITARY MONDAY TO AMYS PLACE!
The Soldiers Code
1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.
3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.
5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.
6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.
