I had a similar experience as a kid on a hwy in a rural area when a low flying two-seater fighter jet flew low and crossed us over our starboard side. I have no idea what flavor it was, but it was a bronze colored jet...vividly recall making eye contact with both pilots. The closest AF base would have been Barksdale AFB about 85 miles South.

Mine was in a fully loaded log truck near Ft Drum in NY. An A10 buzzed us at about 50 feet. It rocked that truck like a toy.

Regular thing ~ we usually go down to a parking lot just outside Ronald Regun National airport to watch jets come in low to land, or take off.

Last Thursday (?) was one of those DOD recognition days so they had a flyover. A few jets. A handful of helicopters. And a brand new Osprey!

They flew over the Pentagon, then the Mark Center, and begun their turn at my house ~ I was sitting there looking out the front window at them as they came over very low.

Russian insurance companies require dash cams due to excessive fraud. This is why we are seeing so much cool video from Russian roads.

About my close encounter: I haven’t seen that exact plane before or since. It may have been an experimental model, though it fairly resembled an F-18, only longer; a big fighter jet as they go. And this was either 1978/1979.

My close encounter was when I worked at Pax River NAS. One part of the perimeter road had a stop sign at the tail end of a runway where pilots practiced touch and go, and catapult launches. You could look both ways, but over the water, especially there, were trees blocking part of your view. I literally stopped my car, and checked the auto for afterburner marks on one close call.
