Hey all - daughter just called me and asked if there was any breaking news - there are a few jets overhead in Roanoke and she's a little worried.

My dad drove heavy equipment at the landfill (Texas), and he said the jets would “paint” them from time to time.

I live fairly close to both Eglin and Tyndall yet I never see jet fighters. I guess I am just not near their flight patterns.
I do sometimes see C-130 Spectre gun ships, usually just before night but sometimes in the middle of the day.

VR-1756 uses the Hardy Bridge as the target. VR-42 uses the dam as a checkpoint.

Really?
‘unbecoming of a FReeper’
I apologize to JimRob and all FReepers
for having posted a less than stellar vanity.
It was never my intent to post an
unbecoming-of-a-Freeper-even-for-a-vanity post.
I will tell my husband immediately and demand that he beat me.
Thank you, KoRn for bringing this hugh and series matter
to the attention of people who care.

Thanks for that! Apparently this is the
first she’s heard/seen them. Daughter and family
are out shopping and the planes scared the baby.
I’ll let her know.

Study VR-routes and military training.
Find out if there are any military funerals with "Fly-Bys" in your area.
Finally, look at
VFR Map Digital Areronautical Chart and use your pim to move it over to Roanoke and check out the airways andf airports in your area.

Well, there was nothing on the news, but it looks like you got your answer. :)

(Don't be afraid to see what you see. (Ronald Reagan))
F-16s (that's what I was told they were) have been making nighttime runs over my house here in OK the last week or so.
Last night one was screaming full throttle and then went silent. Very quickly the engine came back on. Then I went outside and saw another one. Very fast.

There is a low level route that is not frequently used. I flew it once in an F-15E because the range on the coast was fogged in.

Just think how many jobs would be created if the jets actually bomb and took out the bridge. H’mmm, I better stop before I give bh0 an idea for a shovel ready job (filling in the bomb craters.)

However, my family lives in Botetourt County, Virginia, north of Roanoke, in a small community called Glen Wilton. Is Glen Wilton any where near Fincastle? My older sister and her husband retired there some years ago. Very pretty area, lots of interesting back roads to explore.

GtG

YES!! Fincastle is the county seat. I have many relatives who live there, too! (Actually, my ancestors settled in the region circa mid-1700s! So, I am probably related to most of the “old-timers”!)

Hardy Bridge? You mean the one right below Bay Rock? The old one?
I knew they used the dam, but that bridge?? Sheesh!
