Hey all - daughter just called me and asked if there was any breaking news - there are a few jets overhead in Roanoke and she's a little worried.
Anybody know anything?
Roanoke, what state?
A day without military jets overhead worries me.

bttt
Local news (Lynchburg) is on in five minutes....I’ll turn it on and see if they know anything.
Virginia.
Unless there’s another Roanoke out there.
Practicing for an airshow, maybe? There seem to be a lot of air shows in the fall.
OOps! Virginia. Thank you.
Bombing starts in 5 minutes....
Sorry wrong thread. ;>)
I had to attend a meeting in Seattle on Monday (I hate going there!). Boeing Field is the commercial airfield immediately south of downtown. Just as a bunch of us were walking out of the building two fighter jets took off at what I presumed was full-throttle - right overhead.
Startled the crap out of us!
(This is the field where the president lands and I’ve seen many flights, including the SST, but never one this intense)
Someone saw a cockroach up on twelve.
Showertime!
The enemy will not be visible and they love to die,be vigilant
Remember years ago hearing the military made training target approaches to the dam at Smith Mountain Lake from Tidewater...no idea if this is true.
Well... there is a Roanoke, Alabama, about an hour or so north of where I live...
However, my family lives in Botetourt County, Virginia, north of Roanoke, in a small community called Glen Wilton.
Frequently, jets fly over this area at a very low altitude. My mom and sister have told me they have heard the jets “practice” taking out the bridge over the James River, which is the ONLY way into that community unless you want to forge the river or hike the mountain.
That’s the best information I have to offer you...
Probably just the military training..... wargaming against the violent TEA Party or something
Pussys should ah worked the flight deck.
Tell her it's the sound of freedom.
Those sounds are also part of the reason I can't hear my grandchildren talk.

Roanoke VA?
(your post is unbecoming of a FReeper, even for a vanity)
I live South of Roanoke, and though not frequent, it isn’t unusual to see military aircraft.
